We just got word that Jonathon Rinzler has passed away. He was always very kind and generous to us here on RFR and we consider him the best at chronicling the history of Star Wars from the inside. In one of his final interviews, perhaps the last one he ever did, he shared great stories with us about George Lucas, Skywalker Ranch, and Star Wars. Gone way too soon.

All Up is a very good novel, too. It’s a shame, since that was the only novel he wrote, we’ll never get to see what else would’ve come from that mind.

Todd “Suds” Sedlacek

So sad to hear. At least he is one with the Force and getting some well deserved peace.

Alex

Watching that full interview now while working. Sharp guy. Hope the work he did on TFA sees the light of day. Gonna go buy his Alien and Aliens making of books. May the Force be with J.W.

Patrick Palen

This is really sad! He contributed so much

Blake Weaver

Really sad. Always enjoyed hearing his stories. He was a gem for the Star Wars community.

Ben Berke-Halperin

What a loss. His books gave the most transparent and unadulterated look at the creative process of George and his collaborators, that we’ll likely ever get. Also a fascinating guy to listen to on his RFR guest appearances.

Mark O'Brien

RIP JW. My friend who is a manager in my company used to have his ESB Making Of book at the mess area in his department. If anyone wanted to read it for motivation. Was always proud of that passing it a lot

I can't express how sad J.W. Rinzler's passing is......he was a always a great guest. His connection & love w/ SW & GL was always happily shared....Jason/JMac always mined the Deep Well of SW knowledge/Experience that J.W. freely gave. This is inevitable for everyone (for J.W. & all of us), but it always cuts deep when a loved-one or family member passes....I will be contributing to his memory today,

Jeff Holland

Fascinating interview. Just rewatched it. I'm really looking forward to JW's Howard Kazanjian book.

Mark O'Brien

Really loved the Cantina Interview. Great stories!

Trevor Hallam

Bummer. Indeed a great chronicler. Thank you guys for giving us access to his knowledge and stories!

This is such sad news. I have only read a few of his books, but The Star Wars-comic album alone is such a treasure and I really think he had so much more to give the Star Wars community. I also feel for his family whose loss of course is much worse tha ours.
