Kind of surprised that some people are not watching the show. It's definitely a good show. I think it's my favorite show since Mando. I really love spy thrillers and Star wars so this works very well for me.

I haven't watched Andor yet. So my RFR backlog grows to 7 episodes.

I'm one of those people, and I was also more excited for Andor than anything announced by Disney. But life's been complicated here and I've just not really been in the mood for SW

I hear you Jared, that was me w Kenobi. The moment wasn't right and I've since watched and liked it. But I also wonder (for me) if it's simply expectations. For me I actually wasn't all that excited about this. I'd like to rogue one but like Jimmy said I was wondering why Andor? That being said, I hope everything gets better. If you're on the downturn now, it can only mean the upturn is coming. AKA a new hope. Mtfbwy and remember, even in the darkest times light will rise to meet it!

Another great show lads. Where am I with andor? If I was recommended this show by a friend and had no idea it was Star Wars related (as you wouldn’t really so far) I would have turned it off by now as not enough is happening to justify the time spent watching. But as a massive fan of rogue one which I thought was a masterpiece I am certain it will be worth the wait and know the desert at the end of this show is the best desert ever so I have to trust the chef with the preceeding courses I understand all the negatives towards andor. I think clone wars wasn’t impacted by the slow arcs… but then I remember why. As we had so much action to keep us content with the slower arcs. But it’s early days we will get action. I felt this episode did have value in that we now have much more back story of the group and their motivations to join up. We also have got rid of much of the distrust of cassian at least they know his motivation (at this stage £££) and can run with it. We have a united band of merry men. I do fear that the much needed attack may not happen next week. I feel we may have another flash back episode and or another bix development episode which could lead to many turning off. Let’s hope they open the fireworks next week and it’s the episode of all episodes. I so want this series to work. Let’s give it time. If this was the only Star Wars show we have had for 2 years I would be screaming as loud as anyone that this isn’t Star Wars but we have just had 2 epic years of stuff and around the corner we have bundles of exciting projects so I can handle persevering. Thanks for the show lads Please do an after show of tales of the jedi i feel it is going to be one hell of a show.

Who the hell is Jeff Goldsmith ???! !!! Get this dude back on RFR

Just talked with Steve Sansweet yesterday at Rancho Obi Wan about "Andor." He's all about the show. And he's a man who knows his "Wars." Join the fun if you haven't yet. Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream. Enjoy the ride!

Hey RFR Patreons! I wasn’t sure if Jimmy would mention it on the show but thought you all might like even more SW talk: Jimmy Mac stopped by my travel podcast last week to talk about Galaxy’s Edge and the Starcruiser. Fun convo—especially when we blue sky the parks we wish Disney would make. Hope you all enjoy—it’s called “Out of Office A Travel Podcast”: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/out-of-office-a-travel-podcast/id1438098925?i=1000581538592

I've also received positive Andor reports from ROW. Glad to hear you made it and looking forward to hearing more. - JMac

I don’t follow a lot of online SW chatter, but I subscribe to some SW YouTubers who seem to only have good things to say about Andor, and the show has been generally praised for its good drama. Plus Gilroy seems sincere in his intent—not trying to be subversive or morally ambiguous at least in the big picture. We already know there’s a lot of gray in the Rebellion based on Rogue One and that some Imperials are just trying to do their jobs. The thing that made me fall in love with Star Wars was the game Jedi Outcast on PC, which simultaneously did and didn’t feel like Star Wars when I first played it. Why is there some dude with a regular name like Kyle? Why should I care about these mercenaries on some backwater planet? (Also the point in my fandom when I first became aware of blue milk). Of course ever since the “private contractor” monologue in Clerks, people have clamored for tales from the hidden pockets of the Galaxy Far Far Away. But Jedi Outcast eventually gets around to playing nearly all the hits from the OT plus many from the EU (“Cantina Band 1,” tons of Greedos, the Jedi on Yavin IV, Imperial shuttles and Dark Jedi galore) so much so that the story feels like a parody (but the game still kicks ass). I think overall Andor will strike a balance of the new with the familiar, as well as provide some killer action which is needed to punctuate the interpersonal drama that Gilroy excels at. I do bristle at the idea that story could be second fiddle to iconography (hey, Jimmy Mac can do no wrong in my book, but I know there are people out there who take this kind of complaint to the Moon and back). People will disagree on whether something “feels like Star Wars” or whether a show is good, but in order for Star Wars to stay fresh we need original stories that aren’t just derivative of previous stuff. Disney nearly folded as a company because people kept asking “what would Walt do?” when the answer was to stop living in the past. Instead simply trust and honor the way the past molds us into who we are today. I don’t just want to see R2 units: I want to see a show that finally respects the audience’s intelligence enough to give us another droid with the nickname “R2” because that’s the name Industrial Automaton uses for an entire series, and thus would be shorthand used by many R2 owners. That’s something Tony Gilroy would do.

I want to talk about the murder. But first, want to say, even after all this time, I have yet to call into a Star Wars Disney+ After Show, usually because I'm generally pretty satisfied, give or take a few episodes, with not too much to say on either end of the spectrum (insert "you're a brainless consumer" critiques here). This week, I would've called in had I seen Ep5 in time, but I was happy to hear Jimmy Mac took it in the direction I would've liked the conversation to go in. While I think it's slow and not very Star Wars-y, I think I'm chaffing most against the glowing critical and online reaction for it that's based solely on it not feeling like Star Wars, whereas things like Obi-Wan Kenobi and, yes, TROS, get kicked for being cheesy, broad strokes adventures. That's what I like...because I like Star Wars. But, per usual, my thoughts weren't needed! So, that said, the only thing I may eventually call in to talk about is that Andor is a murderer. That's a big fault of this gritty take. It's one thing blasting people in a run and gun Star Wars shoot out and in a universe where that kind of stuff is still portrayed in a somehow lighthearted way. But with this "realistic" tone, Andor's acts were pretty heinous. Even if the security guards were harassing him, that doesn't excuse that manslaughter. And then cold-blooded murder for the sole purpose of covering up manslaughter and nothing righteous and to achieve no greater end...yikes. It's totally different than Rogue One, where he shot the guy in the back for the greater good of the Rebellion. Here he lashed out, accidently killed a guy, then shot another unarmed guy in the face to cover that up to save his own, at that point, useless skin.

Loved the Billy dee segment! I remember looking forward to each week's Quote of the Week back in the day. Jimmy, if you're looking for more Billy Dee audio gems, I sent an email several years ago with a non-Star-Wars, children's read-along book that Billy Dee narrated ("Giraffes Can't Dance.") I'll re-send it in case you're interested.
