House Party 0.6.0 (Alpha) (Patreon)

Hey guys!

The House Party 0.6.x line makes its first appearance today with the release of 0.6.0.  This build feels really good for an Alpha.  I have done a lot of internal play-testing, and it's feeling like a very smooth release.

Above all else, this build brings a huge update to Rachael's story-line.  It's possibly the most challenging quest line to date in the game.  The quest and puzzle-solving aspect of the story is pretty much finished.  So much so, that we are holding a contest in the Discord channel to see who can solve all of the puzzles first, so if you're seeing this message for the first time, come into the discord server now to see how to participate.  From here out, we will be adding more to the ending of Rachael's story as well as a split story-line option.

General Bug Fixes

Updated Path-finding

Fixed an issue where characters would fall through walls and doors when fighting

Updated drunk mechanics (All characters can now get visually tipsy when drunk)

Fixed an issue where Rachael’s genitals were invisible

the first bug i found is with Patrick. He is on Soba but i have not a dialog to get his phone, i think there schuld be a dialog.

This has been hotfixed. Restart the House Party application and allow the stories to be re-downloaded from the server. Then you should be able to get past this part.

thanks. I have a new problem, I don't see any savegame in the game, since i start the game.

i got the savefiles back, but your hotfix dosn't work.

The hotfix won't work off a save. The variable that was not correct is already affected wrongly in the save game.

I tried to take rum but I restarted game and it's working fine now

Love this game, but it seems like on the mac version , some characters hairs are flickering (like they are bald). Also, doors and some walls is all black. Any chance you could take a look? I did all settings and quality to highest then lowest and it still happens.

This seems to be happening on specific hardware on OSX. I submitted a bug report to Unity.

That's not the way to get the thermos, but good thinking. I may allow that in a future build. You'll need to talk to Frank and ask him about the thermos in order to get it from him.

Yeah, everything on my mac seems to be all updated. Unless thats the problem?

I honestly don't know what the problem is. It's running ok on my macbook pro that's about 4 years old and updated with the latest OS. I haven't been able to reproduce it here, but I've seen a few other people with the issue.

Thats the weird part, mine is a year old macbook pro. I will check if there's a manual update or something for the video drivers.

Found that, and the kettle and the stove. If i combine the coffee and the kettle it says i need to put it on the stove first but i can't pick the kettle up or do anything with the stove

Nvm. make sure u use the hand to pick it up and drag it ontop of the stove

There are no bugs with that quest. I think you're missing the thermostat part.

Walkthroughs come out after the beta versions because changes are made up to that point.

if you talk to frank to have rum when he is not on his chair , it bug quest. you cant take rum after ( sry for my bad english )

Why is the background completely black on macbooks? It's pretty hard looking for the faucet or the bathroom doors.

I like the way this is coming along. The new quest actually provided some challenge, and though the end result was super disappointing given all the work I put in, I understand, and will wait impatiently for more content. Good job, guy.

I'm having a hard time grabbing the kettle. It just jumps about all over when I grab it. I don't have an issue grabbing any other object like the laundry baskets or the stuff in the fridge.

I've tried the alpha a few times and even gotten pretty far with Katherine ;) But when its time for the magic to happen, I end up just seeing all the textures of the bed in my face. It's very glitchy. I am aware its all alpha for now but just wanted to let you guys know this was a thing.

Thank you! And next question - Seems that I'm not able to strip myself. Trying to score with Katherine and I can't "reach" myself since camera is tied to mouse without clicking right button. Is there a way to fix that?

I have most of it written and I'm doing mostly internal play-testing at this point. There's some really cool stuff in this update. I would say the next couple of days. It's possible I may put out an Alpha build a few days before the beta.

There's a fine balance between people who want to wait until a story is complete before I put it out (large updates) and people wanting me to put out new content as soon as I have it (small updates). I try to stay somewhere in the middle. I usually do two to three releases per month, and I think that's reasonable and gives me enough time after beta release to squash out any bugs that are left.
