Time for chapter four!The vast empty space at the top of this splash page is meant to give the reader a long, slow look down onto the scene, a little like a crane shot in motion pictures. I could have labeled this area of London as I have with other regions, but ultimately its exact spot isn't that relevant. This page and the ones that follow set the scene of a kind of slummy area which is all it needs to do.I used progressively lighter shades of ink for the line art as the scenery recedes into the background to really push the background back and draw the black-inked foreground forward. The group of children are a dark clump set against a light patch of the dirt background to focus on them.
