This was an interesting sequence to do, because I'm trying to get across stillness and emptiness. Gill's silhouette peering in the door leads into the drawn-out door creaking sound effect, which I could have probably extended even further across the panel to really emphasize the hollow echo.Most of the reference for this scene were of slum housing from around the turn of the century and I tried to depict a cluttered, lived-in space abandoned in great haste. "Doss house" as Gill describes it is a derogatory term for low-cost lodging with minimal amenities.   To that end, the notable details include open food tins, hammocks and mattresses crammed everywhere, a makeshift toilet and of course, cockroaches.The small word bubble in the last panel is meant to be indistinct dialogue. There's no actual text there, just some lines implying that something is being said that can't be heard clearly.
