I tried to make a perfect water shader for VRChat worlds, which would be VR ready, beautiful and with minimum visual refraction artifacts.

Main shader features:

Two normal map layers

Ripples and flow animation

Depth fog

Refraction

Lots of color settings

Depth color desaturation

Almost no visual refraction artifacts

Different shaders for several purposes

Caustics projection ability

Depth-based water foam

VR-correct refraction

Full version also gives you:

Underwater fog without post processing

Physically correct underwater surface

Underwatercaustics projection ability

My everyday support in Discord

Full version is available for my Tier II patrons ($5) here:

NOTE: To use this shader, you must make Unity to calculate the depth buffer. So, it could not work in scenes with no realtime shadows. To fix this, read a note on a very bottom of this page.

You can also test my water shaders in this VRChat world

PS: This asset will be updating in future with new features and optimizations.

Remember I said, this shader has almost no visible refraction artifacts?

You can make fake-geometry reflections with this shader:

Full version gives you a beautiful underwater fog:

It also gives you physically correct underwater surface shader:

How to make this shader work in a world with no realtime shadows

To use this shader, you must make Unity to calculate the depth buffer. The easiest way is to use a special prefab I provided for you in the latest perfect shaders updates:

Just drag-an-drop it somewhere into your scene and everything will be done!

Yes, HOW do you change the under water FOG... I see no settings for it. FULL VERSION

is there any form of documentation on the shader, im having trouble getting it to function properly in my scene

Is there a version for URP? What is the difference between Free and Pro?

RED_SIM

Hey! No, there are no URP or HDRP versions. The main difference is that the FULL version also includes underwater shaders such as underwater surface, underwater fog... and stuff like that.

How can you change underwater color?
