Hey guys! I'm putting up this poll today because I appreciate and deeply care about your experiences and feelings when it comes to supporting me when you have so many choices out there!

Last month I found a lot of kind souls had to say goodbye because of one reason or another, and while I'm always sad to see someone go, I will always be grateful for the kindness and generosity of you all when it comes to the time we share together.

I want to be honest with you all here as I have always been. There was a sharp downturn with many declines and a lot of cancellations to the point of nearly a $300 loss. I've returned back to where I was before I left my job. And It is becoming more and more likely that I will have to return to full time work.

Given my hands and most likely the inability to access the laptop like I used to, my output is going to be heavily impacted. The last thing I want is to further strain the time between posts, so I'm hoping you can help me do better so I can turn things around and make our experiences here better together!

Thank you all again for being here! Bless you. <:)

Alas, I'm sorry I couldn't hold up my previous reward.

Shane Wexelman

You or anyone else never have to be sorry or feel bad. I have nothing but gratitude. You guys have helped me in my worst times and help take care of my family when they've needed me most. We're still in this together, and I want to thank you for helping make all the time I put in worth it.

Shane Wexelman

Hey guys, great to see so many votes already! ^^ More sketches I can do! What I would love to know is how I can make it more diverse and fun for you if anyone has suggestions!

Ms. Fuffles

Personally I'm completely satisfied, things come out much quicker than I expect (hope you don't burn yourself out doing that) and your content both nsfw and not are a delight with the only reason I'd stop being subscribed is financial inability. So thank you for the great stuff and I hope good things your way!

VoidEchoEffigy

Not a single complaint here! Please take care of yourself, and don't be afraid to take breaks or slow down in general. I'm thinking money is pretty tight these days, so that's why so many left, unfortunately.

Shane Wexelman

I really appreciate that. It can be hard some days but the truth is that you guys have given me a reason to be so active and do art like I used to when I was younger.

Shane Wexelman

That's so sweet of you to say. <3 I've been trying to do my best and rest my hands where I can. I began therapy exercises and hoping through a long process that I can get my pain levels down. Most if not all of us are feeling that tightening, myself included. I'll always understand, and care more about everyone's well being and peace of mind than my own.

Having just joined because I've discovered and enjoyed you recent work its hard for me to say you should change or re-balance anything about your efforts. Therefor its hard for me to vote for anything in particular in this poll. 🙂 The one thing I've always felt strongly about as a supporter of any creator is for all finalized content to eventually reach all fans, whether they can afford to pay or not. After all I'm here to support you for what you do, and I want as many people as possible to enjoy it as well. I dislike permanently locked content so timed exclusives is my preferred approach here. 🙂 That said stuff like "behind the scenes", sketches, progress updates, voting on ideas, or whatever else that is not the "final product" so to speak is fair game for permanent exclusive posts in my eyes. Following along on the journey is part of what makes crowdfunding so great for us supporters. 🥰 While these ideas are not part of the above poll options here are some ideas I think has worked well for other creators to raise awareness of their Patreon and drive traffic to it. 1. Adding a Patreon-link watermark to your publicly shared comic panels/artworks I've seen you add the Patreon link to the description field of your comic posts on various sites. This is great as long as its viewed on that site, but its often lost if the comic is shared beyond the original sites you post to. For this reason it could be smart to embed the Patreon link somewhere in the image itself. Ideally this is done in a way that does not cover up/distract the panels, but considering how often I've seen people "cut out" the artists name/credit from art you do what you feel is right here. Maybe try adding it under the bottom panel, or in between panels to make it harder to "crop it out" by screenshots or however its shared. You can even leverage this opportunity by adding a bit of text with something like "join my Patreon for non-watermarked comic pages!" or something like that if you wish to keep the Patreon content clean. 1a. At the very least sign your work! I noticed you don't put any signature on your comic pages at all. Patreon link or not, this is absolutely crucial I feel otherwise people will have a really hard time finding you if they run into your art outside of the original sites you post to. Just put an easy to read (fancy signatures are neat, but readability is key :P) signature somewhere at least! 😅 2. Timed Patreon exclusive Bonus panels Pretty simple really. Maybe for each full comic (or however often is reasonable throughout the production process of a comic, up to you) you could create a Patreon exclusive Bonus panel/art piece/pin-up of the characters. This is something a lot of big web comic authors do and its something I feel works well. For example you could add an enticingly blurred version of this bonus panel at the bottom of a new publicly shared comic, with text over it saying something along the lines of "Join my Patreon to unlock exclusive bonus panels/art!". This can still be combined with the timed-exclusivity, but don't feel bad about letting this bonus panel exclusivity period run longer than the main comic. I've seen comic authors keep them exclusive for a year before sharing them publicly and that's fine. I don't even feel creators need to be particularly forthcoming publicly with the bonus panel being "only" a timed exclusive, the important part is that it serves to drive traffic to the Patreon. Obviously they need to be honest with their supporters though. 😉 3. Supporters in credits This one can be a bit touchy and should obviously be opt-in for supporters. Simply adding the supporters names/nicks to a list of credits under the final comic page if they've supported you throughout the entire creation process. This one typically works best for web comics with their own websites, so this might not be a good fit for you? I'm also not sure how people feel about attaching their name/nick to NSFW comics, hence why its touchy and MUST be opt-in. 4. Adding tiered image quality to Patreon rewards This one can be controversial among supporters I guess. A lot of artists set up tiers where there is a "standard definition" tier where you get access to comics in their "publicly shared web comic size" and a "HD tier" where the artist shares the full original resolution/quality of their work. Sometimes artists even have a "source-files" tier where they share the layered original work files, but this is typically expensive, as it should be. If this idea is applicable to your workflow, art style, and community is hard for me to say, but I figured I'd add it at any rate since its a common way to differentiate between tiers without making any content exclusive. 🙂 I'm sure I could come up with more ideas, but this is a sizable wall-of-text as is so I'll stop here for now. Feel free to shoot down my ideas, or brainstorm further around them. Maybe bits and pieces of the above can be borrowed and remixed into something new entirely. 🤩 I've tried to keep this list to ideas that would slot into your current workflow and workload without adding anything too time consuming or resource intensive on your shoulders. I also tried to avoid anything that puts any new obligations on your plate, such as keeping to a "streaming schedule" time, or commission timelines etc. Time is the most valuable resource and simply "doing more" doesn't scale well, either in time or mental health. Figuring out how to best utilize the work you're already doing is always smart anyway. 😉

Shane Wexelman

This is a lot to take in and there are some great suggestions in here. I know my words are going to be way shorter by comparison but I really appreciate giving your insight and helping me try to figure things out better so we can all have a better time here. Bless you. <3

DarkliteBug

I'll throw some votes in, but honestly I'm happy with you doing what you need. I join cause I like your work, and wanted to see more. I got my end, and will do my best to help you however I can, no matter which changes you make.

AshTheDash

For many years now I've greatly enjoyed your work, interactions and words. I'm pretty satisfied but also fully understand wanting to grow and expand beyond the current state of things. Dezponia gave a lot of good tips and I agree that signing your work and adding a link to your Patreon page at the bottom is a good idea. That way any time someone shares one of your works on discord and other platforms people will know where it comes from, making it much easier to find. You could also try your hand in commissions. Those may feel limiting but can be pretty fun as long as you set clear boundaries. Whats important with commissions is making a clear list of what you will and will not draw and how complex that is going to be so that you don't get people wanting 20 different characters in poses in the background. It's also important to set up slots that are manageable. I've seen plenty of artists set them to 1 or 2 a month. Art streams could also be fun, but those do require preparation and time beforehand. A discord server to share arts, tutorials and memes could be fun too, but like streaming it requires preparation, time and management. Regardless of what you chose to change, take care of your health. Burning out on work is no joke and is a hole that is very hard to get out of. You and your work will always have my support. Good luck!

Frankly im gonna just be plain honest. Your one of first artists I genuinely loved almost around 10 years ago, and by the this point I'm kinda just a huge sl#t for anything you make because it has such a wonderful soul put into it, so as long as you genuinely love what ya make ill support ya till the end
