Lastly, I messaged them privately thru their Patreon last July and asked them kindly to stop doing this stuff and then their next episode Dylan said “spurts of autism” in a derogatory way about someone as a “joke”. They then removed me from the Patreon because I followed up with them via dm again after they had told me they would stop making these hurtful comments. But yeah wish I could have listened to this episode recap without them.

I’m a member of Dylan & Pat’s patreon and I can tell you that they are very regretful and apologetic when people point out they’ve screwed up. Don’t write them off - they can/will/do improve. Queens, I thought this episode was hilarious, and I’m looking forward to 4 Bottoms!

No, I thought the same. I told them not only am I autistic my child is profoundly disabled and asked them nicely to stop making those comments. They said they would and then made more comments on top of removing me from the Patreon for asking why they did the opposite of what they said… so for me I am writing them off. You can’t make hurtful ableist comments week after week, a patron messages directly and expresses hurt. They say sorry then continue to do it, and when i asked why i was removed. Not great behavior all around. But just my perspective as a disabled person.

UGH… I hate to be negative because I love Jake and Matt but I’m shocked that they did a collab with these guys. I’ve tried several times to listen to their podcast because they cover some of my favorite shows, but I’ve had to remove them from my playlist. I work with adults with developmental disabilities, both jobs, and I just couldn’t do it anymore. It’s hard to excuse it when it continues. I’m going to listen and see how it goes, but to be honest with you, no shade, but waiting this long for the podcast to come out is understandable, not sure having them on the podcast is. Sorry

It could have been a patron episode they did last summer might not have been on public feed, but Dylan was making jokes about Down’s syndrome because he had went to a benefit dinner his aunt invited him to and he began making fun of Down’s syndrome people singing at the event…

As I stated previously, I’m 59 years old I was born in 1966, and you are correct. This century, and the approximate 25 years we’ve been in it, it is unacceptable. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. It was definitely a word that was used frequently, and was also the term used to identify people with a developmental disability.. Obviously it’s not OK now.

I’d like to preface by saying I’m NOT defending Joey in my next statement— I wish there’d been cameras in the Madison + Joey interaction post filming! We saw her chameleon on the dates they chose to show us, I would have loved to see what really went down there I’d be very curious to see what he interpreted as coming on to him since it seemed out of the blue. It seems like a strange lie for him to say they’d interacted .. the more likely lie is denying any interaction at all (like the DM)

I think a big misconception that everyone in Minneapolis or around the area is blue - It’s an extremely purple area. I am purple as hell. Many people like myself identify as independent, because I honestly share right and left sided views (I am a poc, LGBTQ member and disabled. Don’t come for me saying I should be completely blue to protect these commuities. I am those communities, I have my own thoughts and am rarely listened to) Purple. We don’t live in LA or Portland. Our coworkers, family, friends ALL have different views - no it’s not always woke, those ppl are just the loudest - and in order to maintain any relationship, you have to be able to talk about and understand where they are coming from. So I’ve had many convos w ppl who I don’t agree with, and many who I do. They exist and are VERY prevalent in Minneapolis. Two Black Girls One Rose talked about this on their episode and hit the nail on the head with this. It’s very frustrating understanding this and essentially having the rest of America tear this place apart because they think we should all be woke and social justice worriers. A lots happened here that’s not been shown to you on your TV screens. ANYWAY - that’s why I think Sarah and Virginia decided to keep on with the relationship for as long as they did. Could be wrong. Just my two cents.

Absolutely not. This is a thing that’s been discussed in communities quite a bit. Misogynistic comments and views are regularly held/made by gay men (not Mattie and Poodle) and it’s not acceptable. Period. It’s even more unacceptable that people make excuses for it because they’re gay so it’s “harmless”. At the end of the day gay men and straight men are both MEN. They still have a privilege that women do not. This isn’t to say gay men don’t experience oppression, just that their oppression has never been because of identifying as a woman. Misogyny is misogyny and no matter who does it, it doesn’t make it ok. In order to have a better world, a more fair world we need to call out these things wherever it might stem from.

Re not having to talk about politics when dating - in a non pod situation it becomes clear to me pretty quickly if I have the same general values as someone or a real mismatch in perspectives. Like if someone is all riled about how you ‘can’t’ live in the city because of “crime” - I love my city neighborhood, not a match, I find this type of male anger and paranoia really poisonous. Maybe that person even voted the same as me but we are still not a match. My goddaughter has two moms and I have a lot of friends in the LGBT community so all that tends to also come up organically in casual conversation. But for one the whole LIB set up is different and for two I assume Ben and Devin said things that made Sara and Virginia feel they needed to ask questions! To me I’d probably be like ok it’s a mismatch never mind but some people are willing to keep trying 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well I’m the same age as Dylan and people did use the R slur growing up however we are now mid thirties and hopefully have learned from bad humor we had growing up that aims at making fun of disabled people sooo. Perhaps just not continuously saying I’m sorry then immediately defending and explaining why it was said would go over much better. Also I mean Dylan specifically is and was well aware 7 months ago that that word is not used by most educated people in 2024. Once again, sometimes it’s totally fine to be like yeah sorry we no longer use it and understand it’s hurtful and not explain/excuse further. I finally listened to the podcast and I do have to agree. It was a bit hectic. It felt like everybody was talking over each other. Something that stood out to me, why are we still making fun of Chelsea from love is blind? I don’t remember who said it, but they we’re talking about her and Jimmy and how she said that she had looked like Megan Fox. Somebody made the comment that the only way she looks like Megan Fox is if it was still Covid and she was wearing her face mask. I thought we were above making fun of peoples looks on this podcast, especially judging how females look. That just threw me off. I felt like it was four guys in a locker room making fun of someone. I don’t know it just felt off for me.

But they did bring it up. I think it was Jake who said that Alex is pretty much the worst contestant they've ever cast because of the allegations surrounding him regarding minors, when one of the guests chimed in with something along the lines of "oh, he's a legend then" (not verbatim, didn't feel like going back to listen to it again), they all laughed and moved on. The latter comment was a real low point for me. Furthermore, they do address some social media stuff, such as the issues surrounding Tyler which were a big talking point last year.

A family friend is the aunt of the girl who “wrote Devin the note.” She is not Devin’s “ex” they dated in high school for a small amount of time. Her now husband was Devin’s groomsman and she was at the wedding 😂 This 100% didn’t hold any weight.

I found Bad TV through Reality Gays. Bottom line is these 4 guys are hilarious. Dylan & Pat have evolved and will continue to evolve, just like M&P have/will since their 90 day gay/sabrina days. But also, Dylan is sarcastic as hell and a lot of people won’t get his humor. I’m grateful to be able to enjoy all of them and will never take a RG/BTV collab for granted 😍. The only constructive feedback I can give is for everyone to watch how much they’re interrupting/talking at the same time. But that’s hard when there’s 4 people. Love you 4 guys!!

Man, people are really worked up about this collab. I don’t get it. I cringe when society calls people “too sensitive”. But damn y’all, I think you might be too sensitive. Please be inclusive to all types of personality and humor. Some people need a break from the constant barrage of social issues. Understand that laughing at an issue doesn’t mean that we don’t take it seriously. Understand that reality TV ain’t that serious. Understand that anyone choosing to go on reality TV has signed a social contract to be fair game for comedians. Understand that for some of us, making light of something is a coping mechanism. Humor heals. Let the boys be funny. And if you don’t like it then don’t listen, but please don’t try to shut it down for those of us that enjoy it.

I love Shane Gillis. Heard of him? Netflix specials. Hosted SNL twice recently (super liberal and inclusive show if you haven’t heard). Loves to joke about his family members with Down syndrome. Sometimes laughing about sad and serious things is the best way to cope. It’s not how everyone copes, but it is how some of us do. So instead of judging us (and accusing us of judging) practice what you preach and consider that there are sooo many different motivations for why people joke. Don’t assume the worst in people based on their sense of humor. It is not who they seriously are. Humor is literally not serious.

Out here writing a thesis in every comment about the concept of comedy when some of us are disabled, have disabled kids and have a line that we don’t enjoy being crossed.
