Barbara Demers

Growing up Dominican or Cuban, babies (mostly girls) were immediately bathed in a violet scented cologne made for children. When my daughter was born, (2000), I did the same thing. Also, let's not forget the perfume Laura Ingalls used to wear, a gift from Mr. Edwards, lemon verbena. I think it all depends on the scent. My $0.02. Love you, Queens!

Barbara Demers

I'm being hyperbolic when I say, bathed.

I love supporting other women feeling sexual/dressing sexual etc etc. But Pao is one of those girls that others girls don’t like because they’re jealous or insecure (that def exists) it’s because she NEEDS to know that every man wants her. Like it’s super conscious and try hard. If you’re her friend, you feel like she isn’t present with you unless they involve her somehow feeling validated. And she won’t take ownership of her validation needs outside of I’m “latin blah blah.” She just has no personality and relies on external factors to give her one PS so excited you guys are starting the beginning ones 💜

Jessica Wright

Also Poodle you’re definitely putting a lot of your own experiences via your nurtured environment or relationships, but I have never associated perfume on a child as sexualizing them. Creating smells are fascinating to kids. Take a toddler into Lush! All the smells blow their mind!

Emma Nelson

I definitely bought Celine Dion perfume (with the encouragement of my mother) when I was 9-12 years old. 😂😂

Ashwini

“It’s not extreme. There’s not a lot of mental illness.” duh Poodle why do you think I suggested you do season 1 of Love After Lockup concurrent to this one

Ashwini

Is nobody concerned about a Sissy following Mattie’s interior design advice and it leading to a house fire?

Perfume was 100% about hygiene in our household. 3 girls and all loved perfume. Stole moms all the time until we got our own. Dad was big on cologne and we always loved how he smelled. I have never associated perfume w/ sex. It’s more like a bubble bath or nice shampoo. It’s about the smelling senses like taste or touch.

Crystal Miller

Mormon here who lives in Utah! FLDS people on the compounds are fascinating to me. I worked with a girl who's parents escape led the Warren Jepps compound and I had to hold back from bombarding here with questions.

Isis Tucker

I always loved smelling good but not sexually when I was younger and I make my kids spray some type of perfume after a shower so they can learn hygiene and to smell good.

Jacqueline Tucker

I have never once thought about perfume as a sexual thing until this episode. Clinique Happy was my favorite thing ever as a teen. I have always considered it more of a hygiene/way to smell good thing.

Heather Campbell

There is nothing that turns me off more than the smell of cologne. Body spray and perfume are just everyday cosmetics in my family, like deodorant and lotion. My sister and I used to buy Designer Imposters perfume for our mom every Christmas.

Jessica Sharp

Don’t come for Cool Water y’all! 🤣🤣 I used to wear it in high school. All the guys loved it bc I would leave my scent on their clothes/sheets HA 😬 The smell is nauseating nowadays bc I wore it so much

Valerie Ulrich-Provost

Chandelier scream! Finally my name worked for letter of gay. Both my husband and I were cracking up. He would like to know where I'm hiding the fake tits. Thank you for everything you guys do. A great way to start the weekend.

Carolina Zhang

I totally agree with this. Like manners, children need to learn good hygiene habits early, before going into puberty and especially boys! They start to smell like little farm animals and you don’t want to make them feel bad.

Cristina DL

Thats fuckin juicy i cannot for the life of me get over the fact that the remaining FLDS still hangs on to warren jeff's every word... from prison. Fascinating culty stuff

Patty

A 4 year old boy in my class used to wear cologne. It was very a much "I wanna be like dad" type of thing. I agree its kind of weird and let kids be kids, but I didn't think it was sexualizing

Jennifer

When I was 6 or so, my mama would take me to the mall and let me try on every single perfume. When we got home my dad had a FIT! I smelled so rough! 😂

Cara Gaspar

Wow... I saw this season when it aired and had forgotten about all the little details. (like a 12 year old kyrliam) Its so wild to watch this in 2020 and remember how different our culture was 10 years ago. 😬

Danielle G

Okay but what do we need to do to get the boys to cover “I Love a Mama’s Boy”? Lol

strawfire71

When I was a kid, my dad went overseas a lot and always brought home those little samplers of perfumes you get from the duty free store. I loved them, and would actually put it on my stuffed animals so they would smell nice. 😊

Jilliann Gardner

I don’t consider perfume to be inherently sexual for adults (or kids, obviously). It’s just something you use because you want to smell good. Sure, maybe you’re attracted to the way someone smells, but I’ve never considered putting on perfume to be sexual in any way really.

Megan

I have went back and watched all seasons that I haven’t seen. Honestly, season 2 is good and can’t wait till y’all get there, because I’m interested in seeing what you think about Danielle ((I’m from Sandusky, Ohio which is about 15 min from Norwalk where she is from)) But, season 4’s Nicole and Azan........ I literally can not.

Peggy Ann

As a kid in the 90s and early 2000s, we had body sprays from Bath and Body Works that were sweet or fruity. I once wore one to a theme park and had bees following me around until I jumped in the pool lol. I always thought kids using body sprays was so we weren’t smelly, especially once you were going through puberty. I think that’s also what I interpreted from my mum because she used perfume to smell good and cover up any possible perspiration, as she prefers to say. A lady doesn’t sweat. She perspires.
