I bet Bilal's dad was just like him, very possibly much worse. Controlling, gaslighting, and very, very feared. The way his mom and sister defend him reminds me of family members of mine who grew up in what we now recognize are abusive households. I agree that Yara and Jovi basically had a plot written out for them this season too, BUT I do also think Jovi doesn't really trust her and he's really not secure in their relationship. And that's his fault, because he's an unintelligent, emotionally stunted fuckboy, and as a fuckboy, he married Yara for the same reason he hooked up with her in the first place: she's hot. There's more to her than that, of course. But Jovi only sees women through the lens of what they can do for him. Mommy cooks and cleans, pretty ladies give him sex (when he pays for their vacations). Maybe if he were able to see women as more than just their looks, he would value Yara and their marriage more, you know, like a mature adult.

Speaking of XMas Specials - Have you all seen the 1967 holiday movie Cricket on the Hearth? It came bundled with a Rudolph and Frosty DVD I bought and it sure is something! It is a Charles Dickens story that is really NOT Christmassy and really campy. I love it!
