It sounds like this season is exactly the same as the other ones unfortunately - no people with disabilities, LGBTQIA with any differences at all (even the white woman who likes everyone) - Love is Blind is too American to actually go deeper and less superficial. First Dates is where it's at. As much as I love ya'll I waited to listen to what you guys said cause unfortunately you two think in binaries a lot and forget about non-binary folks and misgender people pretty often. Also Bartise is a light skinned biracial person not a black man btw! There's a lot of nuance there. And Love is Blind isn't doing any racial work -(Or any actually work with breaking any boundaries honestly). as white men ya'll couldn't speak to that. They're all people under 40 who are "normal" looking? Nothing new. Already gave up on this show and this solidified it for sure. I'm wondering what makes you think this season is the best or any different? And as a reality tv connoisseur myself and professional hater I want to always trouble the perceptions :-)

As a Nigerian American woman I feel like Kwame is being silly if he thinks the name Kwame won’t give away that he’s Black lol. As someone with an Nigerian name I know people do immediately associate names (and voices, slang etc) with race. So I don’t think the experiment is “race blind” but it’s an interesting conversation. Kwame gives me a vibe that he doesn’t date black women and was looking for an experiment that would allow him to pretend. In Ghanaian (and Nigerian and other cultures) naming is so sacred so it made me think he has a bit of a self-hate issue if he was seriously thinking of going by Alex.

I'm Nigerian American too and I thought exactly the same - from what they talked about it sounds like he's dealing with a lot of internalized racism for sure, this "experiment" isn't doing anything to actually speak to these things cause of course the people who created it have no clue about these things!

I love British reality shows for their inclusivity as well! First Dates is amazing. But for someone who is interested in troubling binary thinking, it's interesting you felt it necessary to clarify that Bartise is biracial and not Black. Biracial or multiracial people can be both Black and bi/multiracial. Plenty of people with multiracial ancestry identify as both because their lived experiences are not necessarily reflective of their ancestry.

I cannot stand Paul!!! Within 1 minute of meeting every girl he says a joke about them getting married and then talks about going to Italy with them. What a f**k boy tool! If women can’t see past that then they aren’t ready for this experiment. I was naive enough to have a Paul once. Now I hear “your voice is so sultry and I 🤮”. You make that mistake once (unless you’re Mattie or Poodle). These poor girls that haven’t had a Paul will fall for him and it will be sad to watch.

This hasn’t been good since Season 1, but I agree it’s the best so far. Brett is the hottest and I am so rooting for Tiffany, she seems like the sweetest and it seems like a good connection so far. 100% agree that Micah is competitive and Irina is also more interested in “winning” and that is going to cause problems. I completely devoured all the episodes so I’m diving into the rest of the pods now, lol. Merry LIB y’all!

This season I tried to do an experiment. I just listened to the audio so I wouldn’t see the cast. Turns out Netflix automatically turns on the voice description. So you hear “Brett is black, Tiffany is also black”. I guess I’ll never know if love is blind.

Ok, so only just started watching LIB and then binge watched most of it over the past few days because I’m all or nothing, but I came here to tell you that I may have said to myself in the past, “damn, Mattie and Poodle have good instincts about people, but being as far into the show as I am an listening to what y’all’re laying out, dang if you’re not spot on about these people, especially Micah. 💯 what went through my head about her, including Mattie’s feelings about the duck lips.
