I was confused by Jackelina’s breakdown but did catch that she said she “takes care of” a lot of people in her family, so my thought was that she may have to either financially provide for some or provide other resources; which is why she may have said they’re a lot but she can’t leave them. Marshall was SO patient and kind with her. I love his maturity. I really hope he doesn’t get hurt in this.

The more I see Zach interact with Irena; and seeing that he broke up with the more caring of the two women he seriously dated; the more it seems he gets off on psychologically analyzing people more than feeling things on a mutual emotional level. It was quite profound that he picked up that Irina is vicious and can hurt people. He nailed it; but he CHOSE her. He finds that aspect of her intriguing because it’s almost like he wants to study her. And she’s creeped out because she can tell that he IS getting who she is. Whew…this is going to be wild to watch.

Zack’s outfit choice for the meeting was also terrible and did not help him at all. It gave me animated Joker vibes. I can’t remember if in this episode Jackelina calls him a weirdo and Irina a peasant but I could not stop laughing.

Agree. Watching him interact with her real issues in a real way makes the whole show for me. He really is a grown man. Will be interesting to see if she can accept really, non-traumatic, abusive, dramatic, real love. I feel for her. Messed-up emotional patterns are hard to break out of.

I love how you put that. Agree. I kind of relate in the sense that I see how he overthinks things. The overanalyzing is a lot. Been there. But also it appears that he doesn’t trust his own knowing. Like the channel to that was never made or severed in childhood. I think the boys said that he feels like he doesn’t deserve the “good one” and that resonates. It really will be wild.

I learned something new today, which really helped me understand the appeal of a Micah and Irina, who I, too, found completely banal in all ways and was stymied to see how desired Micah, especially, was. The porn actor/Kardashian voice. Never thought of that before. Blech. But I guess it makes sense. Bottom line, it’s fantasy. So where the boys and men are split is who wants a real woman or a tv/porn character and I guess Kwame is the latter. And I think Zach is having conflict between an avoidant part and a more true self part, for sure. And got his lesson hard 😆

Omg. These conversations about this show. This so the best time on a pod I’ve had in some time. I guess I need to get out more, but seriously, wow. You guess have changed my mind about Chelsea. I felt like she was fetishizing Kwame and I felt was using too much “blaccent” with him and the other women of color and it gave me a little ick, but even with a little of that still unresolved (truthfully, it’s going to be hard to rid our society of the over-sexualization of black bodies for some time, but the awareness is so important) she has shown herself to be in it for real (or as real as she is able) and down to do the work. There is no way on earth that Micah would do a smidgen of the interpersonal heavy lifting required to be in relationship with Kwame and, for his part, I could see him actually walking through life shallowly with her on his arm as a trophy. Which makes me sad, cause there is clearly a lot more to him, which Chelsea is endeavoring to draw out. And at the end of the day, I actually think it’s Micah who was doing the fetishizing and manipulation, as I don’t believe that she would have been able to see herself with a black man, seeing her as I see her now. Nope. She da fetishizer/racist in this group. Eyes opened.
