Sissies---sound off!!! For once and for all!

And yes, Poodle is going to have problems with how I word this poll, but I dropped my f*cks today when I got of my car and didn't feel like picking them up.  But if these options don't work for you, come at me in the comments!

I think Pedro really loved her and then her actions and her family’s actions made him fall out of love with her.

Leslie

I dunno you all but Pedro wait the exact amount of time to get that green card before he bounced. I used to always believed they loved each other but that was bad timing.

Monika Pimentel

I think he was in love and both families spoiled it. They should have moved away to get space and work on their relationship.

Reality Gays

EXACTLY this— which is why the wording of this polling is misleading and it’s not as helpful as it could be! 🤦‍♂️ — P

I think there needs to be a third option which is that he was in love but his family are actual monsters (and so are hers for that matter).

Jenny

We need an option for both. I think he did love her, but he was more than happy to come to the US.

Michael Stancil

This low key makes me uncomfortable with how easy he’s been labeled a con. It just feels like the friends and families of people on 90 day who know nothing but say “they’re foreign, they must be scamming.”

Jill

I used to think he was but all the latest from Family Chantel and how it all went down I don’t think so. I think maybe he thought he could learn to love her at some point but I now believe friend Obed.

Kelly Savoie Samora

Pedro could have found another person willing to marry him to keep him in the US. He put up with a lot of bs with her family.

Michelle Martinez Logsdon

Once he clued in that Chantel basically sold him out and set him up for complete failure with her family, while simultaneously taking ZERO accountability, he was done.

Georgina Toledo

i think it's both.. he did fall for her initially and then his family convinced him of the opportunity

Melissa

I want a 3rd option for he thought she was hot but was definitely looking for a way to the US. I don’t think he ever loved her.

Alisha Dawes

Both families drove Pedro away. I believed his tears and hurt were real. It started with love and then at some point I think he knew all he was going to get out of it was a green card. I think Chantel’s family would have done this to any significant other of their children that was from another country. Also- I blame Chantel for starting the relationship with a lie.

Mansui Miller

I can't choose 😵‍💫 I think he loved her but at the same time thought a relationship with an American would have certain benefits. So maybe what might have turned him off from someone else was acceptable in the circumstances. But it seems too simple to just write that off as scammin'!

Megan MacKenzie

He loved his pinkie Winkie! But who could put up with all that nonsense? Don’t get me wrong I could watch Karen all day but I would not love her being my mother in law lol. Also his family ruined it too, not just hers.

Julia Facey

Chantel did him dirty from the start. She threw him under the bus multiple times and put herself and her family before him. She was selfish and by the time she came to her senses it was too late. If he was conning her then he did a great job but I don’t believe that was the case.

Laura Taylor

I think he was in it for love, why else would he put up with that family!

Hannah Goralewicz

that’s true! His family added more gas to the dumpster fire. But she really started all of it with her family when she lied her entire season about their relationship. I fully believe that if she was honest up front about her relationship with Pedro, the relationship with her family would have been different.

Missy Fuller

I think they fell in love in the DR and once he was in the US with the family he realized he couldn’t do it, so he cheated (sheeted) and got out.

Sand Ra

Harvester!!!!!!!!

kayleelovestakis

i agree with poodz that there should be another option - i don't think he was "conning" at the beginning, but i agree that he was just fine with marrying her and thought worst case scenario if it didn't work out, he'd get a green card

Kathleen wallace

The hubs think I'm gullible, but I thought he loved her (or at least was in heavy lust) at first - but damn! She never had his back, so I think that shiny-new feeling fell away pretty quick. She NEVER treated him like he was as valuable as her fucked up family. Sorry Mattie - I am usually in your camp on opinions, but this time, Poods got my vote. (edited to add - go on and leave those fucks on the ground - I hear there is a heavy concentration of Karens on the prowl that are always on the lookout for some to use in an assault on a child's lemonade stand... )

Georgina Toledo

i definitely don't think they would've stayed together that long if coming to america was not an option. he was probably thinking ok this girl is beautiful, she's in school and she can get me to america so i'll stay and make it work for as long as i have to.

Taylor Wallace

I'm in the middle. I think he fell in love with Chantal, but then had pressure from his mom and sister because, as they admit later in the season, it's very common and sometimes expected that the man moves and provides for the family back home. But then, Pedro's family met their match in the the Family Chantal, which I think created a 2 sparrows in a hurricane situation for both of them. I think under different familial circumstances, they could have thrived as a couple. But when both families honestly go out of their way to hurt, are way too proud, and seem to only have their own selfish interests at heart, so far that they are willing to implode the relationship of the two married people tying them together...only Candide-level tragedy can ensue.

Jeff

Started off specifically looking for an American (I think Pedro admitted this, and that his mom helps people do that) but also he liked her right away. So it was a win-win.

Elizabeth

I think he may have been looking for Americans to harvest the American dollar, but I also think that he did fall in love with her, at least for a time.

Robin black

I actually feel it was both- I think he was looking to come to America; I think he really cared about Chantel…. But it went south a lot sooner than the show depicted and he hid how big his ulterior motives were

Sally

I think he loved Chantel at one point. But man, he’s a big asshole in the last season of The Family Chantel

Lois Molina

I feel as if it were both. If I HAD to choose between the two, it would be for love. Both of their co dependency with their families destroyed their relationship. They were so child like as if they were playing house.

Leslie DJ

Judging solely on my experience with ex-husband 😆

Erica Garcia

Both! Y’all The Family Chantal was sooo good, the last season really illuminated the cracks in the foundation and explains why a lot of us are saying both.

Jill

Yeah comments here on the Patreon always seem to be people against even the concept of watching Family Chantel and I think that last season is necessary viewing to really see more of the picture. It really turned me around on him. I can’t say he never ever loved her in any way though I agree.

Tonya Beth

We got some convincing Sissies in here! Love the responses

Juani

I've been a long time supporter of the Family Chantal because i find mama karen hilarious and because it's interesting to see how the initial Chantal-ing of pedro develops over the course of their marriage

Brittany Paettie

I keep changing my answer because I’m frustrated there’s not a 3rd option! Both, he def was in love with her at some point. He was always looking for the opportunity though…

Emily

The Family Chantel is a much better show than I expected. The first season isn’t great, but I liked all the following ones, and the last one is really good.

Sally

I really enjoyed the show. I felt bad for both Pedro and Chantal because both of their families are awful. But, I really turned on Pedro in the last season

Cris Sanchez

I think Pedro was in love with Chantel at the beginning. Then both their families became involved. I think at some point Pedro decided that he was never going to win over Chantel’s family and that realization plus the drama of realizing his own family was terrible, led him to decide that he was going to remain in the marriage until he got his green card. I think in his mind he earned that card having to put up with Chantel’s family.

Jess Marie

We need a third option because it was a little bit from column A, and a little bit from column B.

Bonnie

He put up with a lot of bullshit from her fa

Bonnie

family for it to just be a con

Arianna Pallens

I agree with Jake that it didn’t start out as a con, but after a while, after dealing with all the family bs (both of their families), that he was just riding it out at that point.

Jayne H

I feel exactly the same as Cris Sanchez upthread. He DID start out loving her but they wore his ass OUT.

Rose P

I think he loved her but he wasnt mature enough to be a good husband. I think she also did not appreciate him or just to accept his family enough even to be just cordial.

Jess Durkee

😂😂😂 damn beautiful Dominican men

Carey Addis

I agree with the masses. We need a 3rd option. He loved her, but married her to get to the US. If they both lived in the Dominican he never would’ve married her and would’ve broken up with her after a couple years. He hasn’t loved her for awhile, but stayed in it for the 5 year requirement.

Amy Diehl

I voted Who Gives a Shit 🤣🤣🤣

Dara Medina

My Latino husband has taught me the phrase, “Por que no los dos?”

BRITNEY PORTER

He had to have been in love. If he just wanted to come to America he could have easily found an American woman who didn’t have a crazy family and a very tiny apartment.

Laura Gross

I think it started out as love but turned into just wanting to get out with all the craziness.

sara castro

With a mom like that …. But I think he did want to come to the US but fell in love with Chantel ( I means she’s gorgeous I’d say one of the most beautiful people on 90 day) and then little by little the crazy came out…. And then Pedro stated getting noticed (he is HOTTTT) and he no longer needed her…. Bye pinky winky! And his mom wants all the money fr her

Megan Goad

I honestly think Pedro and Chantel loved each other, but allowed their toxic families to come between that.

Lisa

I think they were both dickmatized by each other

Ashley Updike

Gently reminder that when a mix citizenship/cross culture relationship fail years after immigration it's not always due to foreigner being a scammer. Sometimes relationships just like when two Americans marry.

Clare Connor

Imo the turning point for Pedro in that relationship was when Chantal got back in the van with her family at grandma's house. She didnt even tell her family to stfu when they called his family militias and witches. That's when everyone in his life completely turned on her and started buzzing in his ear.

Tara Jackson

I think it started as a con and then evolved into something like love because of good sex and then evolved back into harvesting the American dollar the moment Chantal graduated/he got his real estate license and they collectively stopped being broke

Arie

This! They were young and got abs having great young hot sex. Then life hit and they didn’t have the foundation or maturity to deal.

Shelley Harriott

Plus they don’t have the benefit of living/dating in the same place and being around each other for a long time.

Jennifer Riester

I need a who gives a shit option - I hate them all 🤣
