IIRC movie 2 is the beginning, this one is next chronologically.

To explain more near the end of the hospital battle with Ryougi Shiki, and Touko. ▪︎• Origin of Shiki's Eyes: Shiki Ryougi obtained her Mystic Eyes of Death Perception (MEoDP) after spending two years in a coma following a traffic accident at the end of the second movie/chapter. The coma left her in contact with the Root (Akashic Records) for a prolonged period, which awakened this innate ability. (This is literally what all the magus are trying to reach, and fucking Shiki Ryougi got there through near-death experience, and living upon it afterwards) ▪︎• Touko's Failed Attempt: Touko Aozaki, a magus who runs the Garan no Dou detective agency, explains Shiki's new ability to her. When a wraith (evil spirit) possesses a dead body and attempts to take over Shiki's own hollow body in the hospital room, Touko tries to use a powerful rune spell to destroy the possessed corpse, but it is ineffective because her spells are meant for living human opponents, and the target is already a corpse. ▪︎• Shiki's Success: Shiki, after tearing off her bandages and using her newly awakened Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, is able to successfully "kill" the possessed corpse and the spirit inhabiting it by perceiving and cutting its conceptual "lines of death". This act proves Touko's assessment of the situation wrong and establishes Shiki's unique power.

To also, add onto what the movie cut out from the novel that didn't explain to you, unless you read or find the info through the Wikipedia page. The movie adaptation of The Garden of Sinners Chapter 4: The Hollow Shrine removed a scene where the novel explains a complex "boundary field" protecting the hospital, which indicates the presence of another magus before Touko arrives. The movie also omits the detailed internal monologue from Shiki where she internally perceives the glowing "lines" on the doctors, only making her ability to see them an external visual effect for the audience. Cut content • Boundary field explanation: The film cuts a scene where the characters discuss a complex "boundary field" protecting the hospital. ▪︎• The novel uses this scene to reveal that another magus is involved, as the field is complex enough that even the characters' advanced senses didn't immediately detect it. ▪︎• The movie omits this specific detail and foreshadowing. • Internal monologues: The film removes internal monologues from Shiki regarding her "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception". ▪︎• The novel includes Shiki's internal thoughts about how the "mother-of-pearl deathmode" shows her the lines of a person's life, which she struggles to block out. ▪︎• In the movie, this ability is shown visually to the audience through a special effect, but her internal thoughts about it are not present.

Lastly, this. In The Garden of Sinners Chapter 4: The Hollow Shrine, Shiki's inner monologues primarily revolve around her profound sense of emptiness and loneliness following the disappearance of her male alternate personality, SHIKI, and her struggle to define a new identity in its absence. Key themes and thoughts in her monologues include: ▪︎• The "Hollow" Self: Shiki experiences a literal void in her soul where SHIKI used to be. Her inner thoughts are filled with a sense of being an "empty shell," lost and disoriented without the internal "companion" she had known her entire life. ▪︎• Fear of the Mystic Eyes: Upon awakening from her two-year coma, she discovers she has the "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception," an ability that allows her to see the "lines" of mortality on everything. Her monologues express sheer terror and revulsion at this new sight, to the point where she attempts to blind herself to escape the constant, overwhelming perception of death and vulnerability. ▪︎• The Nature of Life and Death: Shiki grapples with philosophical questions about living and dying. She initially feels she has no desire to live and is indifferent to the possibility of death or possession by spirits haunting the hospital. This apathy makes her an easy target for these entities. ▪︎• Isolation vs. Connection: Her thoughts focus on her inherent isolation. She previously liked to "feel alone" as a controlled experience, but now that she is genuinely alone after SHIKI's departure, she is deeply frightened. Touko Aozaki, a sorceress, tells her that this "hollowed" heart needs to be filled, possibly through connection with others, particularly Mikiya Kokutou. ▪︎• Forging a New Identity: The central internal conflict is Shiki's resistance to change and her need to reforge her own identity. Her final monologues and actions show her making a choice to live and connect with Mikiya, thus choosing to define herself not by her past or her power, but by her future experiences and relationships. ▪︎• Acceptance of the "Abnormal": Ultimately, Shiki decides to accept her new reality, including her unusual abilities, and move forward, realizing that Mikiya's consistent care helped her find the will to live and form a new, complete self.

Chaolao

Here are the key factors: • Inherent Resilience: Shiki, being connected to the Root (the source of all things), has a unique nature that makes her highly resistant to conventional death and possession by spirits. • SHIKI's Sacrifice: The events of the movie take place after Shiki has awoken from a two-year coma caused by a prior traffic accident. During that accident, her male personality, "SHIKI," died to allow the female Shiki to live, granting her body a further degree of spiritual emptiness that made it an ideal, albeit difficult, vessel for spirits. This prior near-death experience also awakened her Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. • Defeating the Spirits: During the fall, the blob of spirits attempts to possess Shiki's body. Rather than letting this happen, Shiki uses her newly acquired Mystic Eyes to "kill" the spirits' existence by stabbing herself, thus purging them from her body before they hit the ground. • As for Shiki falling down off the rooftops. Let's just say she was saved, by an activated bounded field, but not by Touko.

Well spottet with touko's glasses, it does change her. It is something that comes up in witch on the holy night
