Yes, the Black Cats all dying on him is a LIFELONG trauma for Kirito. That gloomy gus will hate himself for that any damn chance he gets. And, I hate that I can’t blame him. He wasn’t why they died, but he did dig in and get invested in Sachi’s fear and survival. He set a goal, and he failed. Who tf wouldn’t have the take that SOMETHING about that was they fault? It’s just damn painful to think of a 15/16 year old boy thinking of himself as the reason for any deaths. Sure, he could have been honest about his level, but that was like 4-6 people out of >2000 who had died by then. Blaming anyone other than Kayaba is pointless, as long as you are learning and working towards saving the remaining thousands of players.

Kirito’s “Starburst Stream” vs Gleem Eyes is so hype for me. Damn near DanMachi season 1’s “that fight” hype.

17:40 Looked like Sachi to me. 19:40 Well, in episode 1, Kirito did tell Klein that the would be an unlimited number of Sword Skills in SAO.

So there's Kirito's unique skill that no one else has. Every Shonen protag needs to have one. It is pretty wild just how restrictive SAO is in some ways. The whole point is no magic classes, and it's easy to see the appeal in that, especially in a true VR game. In that manner, the lack of ranged combat in general is understandable too perhaps. But one of the most popular combat styles in rpgs, dual wielding, is not a thing in the game. Until Kirito gained it somehow. There's also no classes at all. There's a vast array of skill options to carve out your own niche, and you can use your own prowess to attack without using the skill system, but at the end of the day everyone is just a dude with their choice of pointy stick. Maybe with a shield on the other arm. It's fascinating how very specific what's-his-face's vision for SAO was.
