The reasons i felt in love with season 1 wasn't just in the movie 1. Movie felt rushed, feels like reading this in manga would of been better(if there even is a manga to this movie) 2 Since Bondrewd actually cared for the children but in his own sadistic way, couldnt this fucker actually used actual criminals and shit for his experiments and not innocent pure souls. Or is it the clear fact kids can easily fit in his cartridges. I know its the abyss so its basically hell so the concept of love in his eyes in different from people that came from above, still though man it didnt feel good. In a way it takes away the emotion of the characters, because this fucker actually loved and cared for the kids. And don't want anyone defending bondrewd saying but he loved the children he murdered so that makes it ok? Also it looks like she turned into a white whistle, how the fuck can we look at them the same way again. 3. Bondrewd is still flipping alive, so u know his ass is gonna make an appearance again later:( 4. Season 1 was good because of the world building for me personally, this movie felt like an average Shonen, with dark reg fighting bondrewd which is not necessary bad, but why i loved season 1 wasn't because of that. 5. Again it felt rushed!!

I didn't feel like it was rushed at all tbh. Even think it was better paced that 1st season which had some moments where I was falling asleep, but here I was entertained for the whole time and it has become my 3rd fav anime movie after Grave of the fireflies and Silent voice

To answer your 2nd point Khan, as Bondrewd says, "It's a matter of love." The cartridges only fully work if there is mutual love between them. The movie did cut some things, so feel free to go back and read the manga, the art is gorgeous. Also, I gotta say that I absolutely love Bondrewd as a villain, he's such a badass in a disgusting way, and not to mention incredibly well-written

I get how you feel about Reg fighting Bondrewd, but from my point of view a fight kinda had to happen since it was a movie. Yeah though I couldn't feel much more emotions besides being horrified for most of this movie lol. Dark Reg fight was cool & Bondrewd had some cool moves, this would be good as an anime but if this was a season and it ended just like this, I feel like we would've been less satisfied with this fcked up ending. Especially because we were in this area the whole time, the whole season would have to take place here

Lol yh I understand, guess you’re right, expecting no sort of fighting is foolish on my ends, but it feels soooo out of place for me, them blasts reg use to do here and there in season 1 is ok, but seeing him go in some sort of Kaneki form from tokyo ghoul looked out of place😂. Guess we still have alot to learn about Reg, since he’s from the Abyss. It was still enjoyable though glad i watched it, season 2 already feels and looks like its going in a better direction.

Cartridges only work when there is love. Otherwise using criminals, they would just be meat stuffed in a container. The original reason why Bondrewd even did the experiment on Mitty's and Nanachi's was to test their love. As mentioned in season 1, only one of the person would get the curse and the other would not due to "love". Bondrewd I think is a very well written and complicated character who seriously genuinely loves the children. .I don't think the movie is rushed, I think it was well paced - no boring parts. I don't really get what you mean about the fighting; for a world such as this, there definitely would be fighting.they had to meet him to get to the sixth layer. They were bound to fight him, it would be really dumb if they didn't fight him. This is the abyss, where it's survival of the fittest, so there would be fighting. I think this movie had a really good mix of action and story.

Honestly man, I 100% agree with your assessment of the film. We always knew Made in Abyss was dark, but this was too dark, and without any reprieve. Dude is literally taking children and dismembering them so they can fit in a box without too much fuss lmao. Just a bit too much for me

Khan I think you forget how fast paced s1 was. They were already down to the 4th layer by episode 9. This movie was the length of about 6 episodes and it was all spent in a single layer. If anything, my one complaint of s1 was the pacing was too fast; I wanted to see more of each layer. You said there wasn't enough world building in the movie, yet the only reason you got world building in s1 to that extent WAS because of the fast pacing. Your other complaints are your own opinions, but to me personally I think Bondrewd is an amazing villain because he's so complicated. Thinking about his intentions and the reasoning behind them from both his perspective and perspective of others really makes you think, and I like that a lot.

I hated this movie. It was well done and all but sometimes i wonder if the author is not just writing down his weird fetish or smth. No, i don't expect every movie to have a good ending but the writing in this feels just off

You say that the movie feels rushed but this layer is the most we spent time on. And the Bondrewd fight last like 15 minutes of screentime in total, we actually had more fighting in season 1, especially in the first half where there was not much story and just surviving and even a small training arc (where they trained by Ozen). The rest is worldbuilding / story such as Nanachi and her experimenting or how white whistles are made or Prushka's relationship with Riko or her backstory etc. I think you focused too much on the fight and didn't focus on the rest.
