Hey hey!
Okay, I survived my first interview. Thank you for the sweet and inspiring words. They helped! It was really fun and Dave and Cameron were so, so nice. I have no idea how it sounds and am terrified to listen, but I wanted to share. Their podcast is called Monster Dear Monster and I really enjoyed listening to some of their older shows.

I have another interview tonight and another super early Monday and am again at the nail biting stage. There are more planned for next month.

I have a post I'm working on about that second temple/shine we visited on the side of the cliff, but right now I can't relax enough to finish it. After Monday's interview! Promise! I'll be here with bells on.
Until then, Richard made some weird modular music that follows some wave sounds we recorded at Yaizu Beach. He gave me the below as a description...
"It uses an envelope follower and a slope detector to convert the recording into control voltage, then uses this to control this whole patch. Using it as pitch information, as a modulation source bringing voices in and out, and as a gate source."
What?
But also this Youtube video that further explains it...I think. I'm not sure if I'd shared them before.
Oh! Also it's spring and the wee little frogs have started to wake up. Darned adorable. I want to get out there and get some recordings before the whole bazillion wake up. It's kind of nice to hear them achi kochi (here and there) with other spring insects sprinkled in. So that's on my agenda as well. It feels like there's more to say, but I can't remember at the moment. So for now everyone stay well and safe and I'll be right back 🖐️

P.S. Below is an ojizo statue I ran across the other day while out with a couple girl friends. I know the man who carved it. I used to take lessons from him (carving ojizo). He's locally famous and has some statues in Kyoto as well. I can tell you one thing about carving ojizo...that will thoroughly ruin your shoulders if you aren't strong...and young? Unfortunately, I had to stop because of said excruciating shoulder pain. It made me sad though. Loved the wild sensei and the class and hanging out in the mountains all day.
Here's my attempt at a haiku:
