I had a record player when I was young and my mom would get us narrated books. I'm 51 so this was probably at least 45 years ago. This was one of the first stories I ever heard narrated. I loved it. It was creepy but not dangerous to the boy so didn't give me nightmares. I must say, however, the advice has stuck with me my entire life. "Avoid large places at night, keep to the small."
