Hello, my besties, (╹◡╹)♡

So, here I am, Night Number 2 and WOW. The whooshing, overwhelming knock-down, rip-your-heart-out-and-grind-it-into-the-mud of sadness and loneliness paired with the it-hurts-so-damned-bad-I-can't-breathe is quite the thing, isn't it? We've all been here. Many times. I'm not special. But it's been awhile for me, maybe?

It is, though, interspersed with moments of excitement and hope for the near future and far future. My dreams (and and new ones) are alive and kicking. But I call R (and he calls me) and we cry a lot. It's all sad. But we both know why I had to leave. You know, but everything in the news is so much bigger than little old me, so I feel small and get-over-myself.

So, the movers came the day before the Lunar New Year. They made two trips. R holed up in his bedroom. After everything got moved over, to Obāchan's house, I messaged him and took him to dinner. We ended up at an Indian restaurant, but funnily enough, neither of us ate anything. I'm having left over naan and curry for Lunar New Year. No microwave or butter, so I'm heating it up in a fry pan with a splash of water to steam it. Not bad. I'm pretty sure this isn't the way the ancient Chinese celebrated though.

I wanted to share a (properly boring, I'm sure!) video of what the little abode looks like on Night Number Two.

I got the newest episode out and that felt great. I so, so, so miss it. Tomorrow -- among so many other things I need to do -- I'm putting together the "recording booth". You'll see it in the video. I'm going to try doing all the audio stuff by myself...I might do a bloggy/essay-y thing I wrote for you all and never posted. I need to learn how to do this myself. #sad #independent #yougogirl

I need to run back over to the house to pick up stuff still, the screens for surrounding the booth for number one.

Richard asked me today if I'd psychically/telepathically told the crows I was leaving because today was the first day in years they didn't show up cawing for me. All I can say is: 😭😭😭.

Yes, yes, I did. I figured they'd still show up though. Food is food. I left some little shiny gifts for them. I'll check to see if they took them or not. May I reiterate: 😭

In related news, I'm working on a young crow near here. I hear him stop by at the same time during the day and caw. We've made eye contact and he shivers when he sees that I've seen him. I need to get him to come to the part of the house where neighbors can't see me give him a peanut or two. The last thing I need is neighbor anger.

Okay. I've finished my Alien Beer (on video, too!). I'm going to try and find some music that doesn't make me sad and write down some plans and dreams. Oh, it's another post, but Julyan, Kaho-chan, and I are going to create something together. I want to pick your big brains about that.

But for now my sweet, sweet friends, take a deep breath. Breathe out longer than you breathe in. Repeat. I have so much more to share very soon. I hope you like the video, dorky, but I can certainly do more. XOOXO,

Music that doesn't make you sad: I recommend Radwimps' Kimi no Na wa OST. It helped me stay afloat when my husband had cancer. So for me it did the trick. I'm incapable of being sad when I listen to it and at the same time, I can't listen to it anymore because of the time in my life it reminds me of now. 🥲 But it is a recommendation, still.

Don't lose heart, sister. When youre grieving any type of loss, the heaviness is there and I don't think there's a healthy way to avoid it. But the hope will move you forward and the peace and comfort you're creating for yourself in your new home will be healing. You've done wonders with the house already, and I'm sure you'll soon be the best of friends with your new feathered neighbors. Sending you my best wishes across the world from Portland, Oregon. It's a beautiful cloudy day. When things feel too heavy, a walk in the woods always makes me feels better. Wishing you the best!

that is amazing progress! dang, that's so many futons, you could start a secondhand futon shop. but I guess if there was a market for secondhand futons, you would have found a place to take them by now :(

Big change is hard but you're making headway. There is bound to be a fair amount of sadness for the time being. On the plus side, you have all the makings of an epic blanket fort...

How far away did you move? You know, as the crow flies. I am wondering if the crows will pass on your whereabouts. They pass on info about dangerous people so I don't think it's too far-fetched that they might share info about good people, especially ones who provide resources. A song that always brings a little hope for me: Yoko Kanno's "Man in the Desert"

Glad you have a safe nest with all your things to be able to recover from all this upheaval

I did try to "convey" to them which direction I was going and what it looked like from the top down (as I imagine it). I only wonder about territory. I don't heard many crows here, just one who makes his stop and caws. I'd lose it if they showed up.

I remember back in the day (when landlines were a thing), getting phones calls about people wanting to buy used futons. I thought it was some kind of scam, but I do wonder... I'm on a quest.

Oh, Portland and the whole PNW is one area I've only ever visited but if I had to choose somewhere in the States, would pick to live. Nature is a brilliant idea. I just remembered a friend invited me to a plum blossom picnic this Saturday. Lots of fresh air, blossoms, some river, and friends. It'll be nice to get out. Thank you~~~

Oh, Alexej, I'm so sorry about your husband. I will listen! Thank you. I have been looking for new music I both like but doesn't have memories attached.

Alexej Axis

He's not dead, so no need to be sorry! He had a very traumatic surgery, chemotherapy and it was a tough time for us. It was during COVID, too, and we were very, very lucky and fought like hell. The fact that he survived that and is still with me today is my miracle of a lifetime. Except for a slight disability, we came out of this rather unscathed considering the severity of the situation. Traumatized but happy, I'd say. But the songs still remind me of both, the love and hope AND the existential dread I felt back then when I didn't know if he would live or die. So, as you say, songs with memories attached. I still love them but I have to be a little careful when I decide to listen to them, as memories can wash over me, good OR bad, in powerful waves.
