Hey hey, Crispy Critters,

How are you all hanging in there? I don' t want to talk doom and gloom all the time. Escape is awfully healing and, well, if not healing just extremely necessary a lot of the time.

With that in mind, the last podcast (the super cheesy Meeting an Amabie one) got a handful of sweet and encouraging comments and those along with just how much fun it was to make has absolutely set me on fire with the Next Big Idea.

"Acting" aside, Richard is so good with sound effects and I'm always on board with different ways of telling a story. So the other day I sat down for two hours and mapped out an audio drama in eight episodes. I was really excited about it and brought Richard over to run it by him. Literally seven hours later we had fleshed out eleven episodes of an even better audio drama with twists and turns, and spooky parts and holy crap parts and what we both think is going to be a very good story told in a very interesting way.

I'm working on the synopsis now.  I spent six hours on that and the elevator pitch as well as the timeline for the story yesterday. Once I get it the way I want it, I'll share with you all here. I really, really can't wait to share it with you. Or better, for you to hear it!

It'll be horror (not stab stab stab horror, but creeping, psychological horror) and we'll put it out as an Uncanny Japan Presents stand alone podcast. Which means Uncanny Japan will continue business as usual with this show going up as extra content because we have time that we didn't have before.

Everyone here, however, will get the episodes early as well as the behind the scenes stuff. It'll be just the two of us. We're the team. Although we will probably bring Julyan in for theme music and we need another male voice later in one of the episodes, so we're thinking of hiring a friend to do that. But otherwise just us. We're going to try really hard to make it great, but there will be some tongue in cheek-ness to it. I mean we're not Gimlet Media or This American Life. But having those constraints is part of what is making it fun.

For example, an old Japanese house will be a kind of character in the show, so we'll be recording foley of sliding shoji doors, and the wind whistling through the storm shutters along with so many other Japanese atmospheric sounds.

Okay, I need to get to writing the first episode so I'm going to stop for now.

I got envelopes and stickers sent yesterday. Postcards are taking lots of coloring so I'm doing those a bit slower. Should be done though in a couple days and I'll get those out, too. The post office lady said mail is crazy slow. I hope everything makes it okay.

Please take care, XOXO,

terrie
