For anyone who is interested, Richard and I had a difference of opinion on the ending music of the story in the last episode.

He interpreted as heart warming and bitter sweet, which, well, I did, too. But he chose a more somber music clip for the ending scene. We went with that one, because I was okay with it and understood how that would work, too.

But I kind of wanted to bring back the playful 'oni children' clip of music (when she first got nailed in the head by a rock while looking under the house). I'm not sure. Usually I usually like ending on a more haunting note, but I felt (given the circumstances of the world right now), this could end more upbeat and playful.

Richard kind of agreed with me after we had put the podcast up, so he re edited it for me to share with anyone who was curious how differently it would sound. The attached mp3 is just the story, but with the last music clip calling back to the mischievous youkai.

XO and stay safe,

First off, thanks. It's very sweet. I am already imagining their life in the new apartment. I'm guessing there is a story there well. I was really finding myself wanting to see this story though. If you could get Ghibli to produce it...

Oh, I’ve got a story for Ghibli called Tanuki Soup. It’s so much fun. My agent loved it, but I wrote it and he subbed it years ago before the big manga and anime boom, so it never got picked up by a publisher. Come to think of it, I should revisit that story. Thank you for reminding me. Need more hours in a day🙏.

Hah, I'm not surprised you do. I probably thought of them in part because your story reminds me just a bit of The Cat Returns. Anyhow, as to more time. I once (obviously under some level of chronic stress) imagined a small chest of some kind that one could climb into and take you to a world exactly like world you were just in except for it contained an additional two hours. I don't know why I couldn't simply imagine it containing less stress or work to do. Wouldn't that have been better? Oh well. Maybe I thought that was not realistic.

Thersa, I loved this story
