Hello, everyone!

Okay, just finished up this month's Bedtime Story. I totally got a theme going here. I found a whole bunch of tanuki folktales and picked this one as it caught my attention.

"Tanuki no Shippo" or "The Tanuki's Tail".

I hope you like it. Tomorrow I'm waking up early to work on the next Uncanny episode for April first. There's much left to do. But at least I have the whole weekend free to write and record and the beginning of the week for edits.

I hope you are all safe and well and in the mood for a story about a young monk and an obnoxious tanuki.

XO,

terrie

Hello Thersa, thank you for the wonderful story! Tankui really are quite weird but adorable creatures – it's great to get to know more about them from your posts and stories :) I recently saw a Ghibli movie called Pom Poko – if you don't know it already, I can really recommend it to you. Guess what it's about: Tanuki! One thing I was wondering about though: I was listening to the story with my friend, whom I showed a previous story of yours before, and he noted that your talking sounded faster than usual – we weren't sure if you were just talking a bit faster than before or if you accidentally, when editing your audio track, fastened it up? But maybe it was just our imagination :) Anyway – we really enjoyed the story and I can't wait for Aprils podcast! Have a lovely day! Best wishes, Michelle :)

Oh my gosh! I went and checked. It's funny, I usually don't speed up the tracks, but I've started to on the first edits. It just makes it go faster. So I had ~just~ done that with part of the next episode, I thought, oh no! did I do it with the Tanuki's Tail? Wew! Didn't speed it up, but you're right, I was talking faster. Hmmm...coffee? Yes! Pom Poko is quite popular here with the little ones. I saw it so long ago. I should watch it again.

Yes I also noticed you were speaking at a very... caffeinated speed in this pod.

What I hear is clearly speeded up, with a pitched ”Mickey Mouse kind of voice” that also changes pace in the beginning.

I'll go back and listen. I sometimes edit speeded up, 😱. I might not have fixed it before rendering. Richard does all the final edits now (after my initial run through) so this won't happen again. The app on the phone isn't showing me which episode this in reply to. I'll check!! 🙏😅
