We shall not talk of the drone.*

I've been thinking about the pandemic situation and how Japan still isn't on the ball with vaccinations yet. Also, suspecting once the world does open up again airline tickets are going to skyrocket (because they can?).

So we've been talking about getting a gimbal and making some nice videos of quite off-the-beaten-path places. Much like how in the podcast I like to cover the not-so-obvious take on a subject, we could do that with video, too, wake up at dawn to both catch that magical early morning light and get ahead of any people who might also be sight seeing, and head off to some temple, old neighborhood, one of those nanafushigi places I talk about sometimes. Something beautiful to look at and listen to. So that idea had been brewing for months.

Then the other day, I saw this gimbal go on sale and after much hand wringing and studying, I jumped.

I want to thank you all so much for your support of the show and all we do, and now I'm hoping to give back some more with some nice smooth video of curious and lovely places. Our first date with the gimbal (name pending!) is this Friday. I'm just so excited and can't decide where to go. Spring and all, lots of pretty parks and everywhere flowers are a'blooming. So many neat local places to choose from... But I'll pick something and we'll hopefully get some video up at the end of this month. お楽しみ〜

I adore you all and thank you,

terrie

*Richard bought that drone at a too-good-to-be-true price, NOT!! with patreon money. Poor thing is currently sitting next to the computer waiting propeller replacement, again on his own dime. I told him it was too good to be true. Or I thought it very loudly.

This sounds so wonderful Terrie, thank you! I've appreciated your Lens videos recently as I'm really missing Japan. Little glimpses into the world around you would be me so much comfort and I can see I'm not alone, looking at the other comments. Can't wait to see what you see!

That’s such a beautiful idea – thank you for wanting to share some more impressions of your surroundings! I also enjoyed the Lens videos you shared recently as I’ve been longing to visit Japan for a long time now and our planned trip for this year will have to be postponed for a while longer. So again, thank you :)
