I can't remember if I ever mentioned it here or not, but a couple years ago I wrote an article about Japan's Three Great Ghost Stories/日本三大怪談 for Sotheby's.

Since it's that time of year, I thought I'd revisit it for those who are interested in Japanese ghostly goodness.

I could embed a link to the article, but I have no idea what it looks like until I publish this post. Hope it's obvious what's clickable.

In other news: Working hard on the Halloween episode. It seems to have become a two-parter, and there will also be some behind the scenes/making of here for patrons.

Everyone, stay well and take care (more soon),

Wonderful stories and beautiful art, awesome article. I would like to find out more about Japanese artists of that period

Uncanny Japan -- Thersa Matsuura

Me, too. I dip and dive into them, but I kind of would love to be able to like take a course on them. So many things I want to study. I'm kind of all over the place.

I have a feeling that this article was my first exposure to your work, because I remember reading it, but it was definitely before I started listening to Uncanny Japan. I think it was around then that Sotheby's had an auction of woodblock prints, including the famous Utagawa Kuniyoshi piece of the Gashadokuro that I was sobbing to myself for not being able to afford! (The story has a happy ending- earlier this year they had another auction and I managed to get a much cheaper print by Yoshitoshi, which I absolutely treasure)
