That Time of Year π€ !! and Big News π!! (Patreon)
Content
First off, Uncanny Japan has just passed the one million ( π² ) unique downloads mark, and I am over the moon . It's taken five years and had a somewhat rough start, but we made it. I'm not kidding when I say that it's because of all of you that the show has kept going and (I think) getting better and better.
From the deepest depths of my heart, thank you all so much for listening to, rooting for, kindly reviewing, telling your friends about, and supporting the show ππ.
Also, I am not exaggerating when I say that every single patron I've had the pleasure to converse with has been so entirely cool, interesting, funny, sweet, and someone I would definitely be friends with in real life.
You all inspire me to want to make a better and better show. I've got a whole list of ideas for topics and content for next year and can't wait to dive into that.
I also want to thank Richard. UJ show was my hair brained idea that I ran with before it was really ready, but he's always been there encouraging me, pushing me, and making it all sound so, so incredibly good. γγγγ¨γοΌ
Other exciting news: In 2022 we're both going to be launching a pet podcast each.
His is much further along and I'm guessing will be out quite soon. It's called Uncanny Robot. The catch copy is: "Ai generated short stories read by humans."
I think it's a brilliant idea and I'm super stoked because I get to write my own ai stories, compose my own ai music, prompt my own ai art, and read those pieces on the show. I really can't wait for you all to hear it!
As if it isn't obvious already, my personality is I get an idea and run with it, terrified or not, doesn't matter, you only live once, let's do this thing!! Richard, on the other hand, pays so much care and attention to all the details, making them perfect. He might call it slow but my thinking is --> This. Is. So. Cool.
I'm totally jealous. It's going to be a great podcast, I feel.
Then there's my baby that I've been working on for six months or so. It's called Uncanny Meditations and will launch a little bit later in the year. I've got most of it mapped out and the groundwork laid already. I even made a proof of concept episode that I sent to both Richard and Julyan and they gave it the thumbs up. But still more writing and recording to do yet before it goes live. I haven't decided on a catch copy yet, but off the top of my head: "A you-centered story that might get weird." kind of sums it up.
Soothing Stories Podcast is still around and I'll be doing those more regularly next year. I was a more than a little disappointed when reading a lot of these old stories to find a good bit more racism and misogyny than I expected, holy crap.
Anyway, I hope all of you are enjoying the winding down of the year and able to relax a little and reflect a little.
Richard and I will have a very modest Christmas dinner tomorrow, but will also be working on the podcasts. That said, it doesn't feel like work when you thoroughly enjoy doing it. The trip to Kyoto and Nara was our Christmas gift to each other so no spending anymore money.
Let's all cross our fingers and hold our breaths that 2022 is a less contagious, much more joyous year.
Thank you again, XOXO, and I'll end with a couple of ai generated Christmas scenes.
