Here's the 'forest sounds only' version of the last episode (Goshuin / Episode 112) for anyone who would like to listen to that.

I've been studying crows recently, so this one intrigues me.

The photo below is quite literally where we set down the microphones. That bridge went over a little stream, so we wanted to get that along with the forest sounds. There were hardly any people either, so that was nice. I think a black belt karate man came by to do some praying and a couple just taking a stroll. So nice and nature only.

(keep scrolling down)

(wew! there you are)

Also, Richard mentioned it on Discord, but he just read something about brown noise being good for people with ADHD. It helps them concentrate, or something. We struggle with that greatly, so were intrigued.

Here's a little graphic about the difference between white noise, pink noise, and brown noise.

When we make these recordings I can always here him in there talking about this deep low frequency hum on the recordings. He's always cut it off and kept just the middle parts of the recording. But now he says THAT'S the brown noise. So as an experiment, he took just the brown noise from that mountain visit and made a brown noise only version. To me it sounds very low, rumbly, almost haunting. I'll put that up here in a different post. I don't think I can put more than one audio file in a post. So that might be very interesting for those who use something like this to sleep to or just relax to. I'm going to try it tonight. Then he accidentally made a version of brown noise, but the birds and forest sounds are on top of it. So unlike this one here, it has the low rumble you can audibly hear. I'll stick that one up as well. I like the idea of brown noise with something a little extra going on.

My post about the wonderful statues at Houkouji will be coming up soon. The Bedtime Story, too. I have been preparing for a speech I have to give tomorrow. It'll be on Zoom, too. But I'm afraid the time difference will be awful. I'm hoping they put the recording up on Youtube. It sounds like they might. It'll be three authors who live in Japan and I guess about us...?

Between that and being asked to write another Asahi Newspaper 12-part story (deadline the end of this month/haven't really started yet 😭), I've been a little busy, so I'll get to the Bedtime Story as soon as this speech is over. Sooon! I'm also planning on sending postcards like I did last time: two month's worth in an envelope. So November and December will be sent in early to mid December. For the first time in two and a half years I've had no returned mail...yet. But that's a good sign. I'm optimistic letters work better than postcards. No idea why.

Okay, thank you all again so much ヾ(๑╹◡╹)ノ" Brown noise coming soon.

XO,

terrie

I heard about brown noise and I’m definitely interested in hearing your version of it. I use background noise for lots of things, sleeping, reading, doing chores. Definitely helps me concentrate.

I'll put it up later today. I listened the other night and had dreams about turtles. One turtle was very old and had a bladder problem, peed everywhere. It was weird and kind of calming.

I just listened to this episode on a walk in my neighborhood in Seattle, and I swear I stopped and pulled out my earbuds to figure out where the crow was only to realize it was the audio from the podcast. Impressive!

We STILL do that! So sorry. It's worse when it's a car or motorcycle zipping by and you jump out of the way only to see...nothing there. Boy, that's embarrassing.
