First!

There will be TWO Bedtime Stories in March! Oh my gosh, how does having a month with two fewer days make me mistime everything? I remember this happening last year, too. So double the Bedtime Stories this month.

Also, I'm going to put together something about the 500-year old village we stayed in last week, but I found this lovely drone footage in the video above that I wanted to share first.

It's called Hotsumura and here's a link to their official website if you want to give it a gander before I gather my thoughts. It was just wonderful and I can't wait to go again...in the spring when there are lots of birds in the mountains.

The owner also has an Instagram. Having coffee at dawn on that swing was delightful. ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

I'd go just for バディthe shiba-inu and the goats!

Uncanny Japan -- Thersa Matsuura

I've been around dogs my whole life. We've always had dogs and a lot of the times dogs are my best friends, but ol' Buddy had a 'vibe'. I totally understand Lafcadio Hearn's essay on dogs. There was something very old and wise and powerful in those eyes. At one point during dinner, we're inside mind you, Buddy opens the door to the kitchen (I could have sworn I locked it) and then the door to the living room and just sits down between us, looking at the nabe cooking over the fire. I looked over at Richard and said, I'm not telling that dog he should leave. Should I get a bowl? We had to literally ask him to leave. There was no "Come on, boy, let's go!" Although the next morning I went outside and caught him pooping on a grassy slope and he was embarrassed and did a cute dance. 😂
