Chapter 796: Power.
I still remember. One of Frey’s original goals was to become ‘stronger,’ though I admit I wasn’t entirely sure what that meant or how it looked. Frey seemed to feel… inadequate with her capabilities. To me, they were fucking outrageous. I mean, reshaping my body in a single night? How is THAT weak? But Frey believed that to be nothing impressive. She wanted to grow, to be better at her thing.
Supposedly, she’s a succubus, and I only say supposedly because she’s the only succubus I’ve ever met, not because I don’t believe her. She’s a magical creature, one of many in a tribe of her own, but she was always… the weakest.
“Why DO you want to be stronger, Frey?” I asked, catching her off-guard. “Is there something you have to do with all that power?”
She’d been in a good mood, but my questions sobered her down. She set her glass down, sight and leaned back.
“An overwhelming amount of one thing can make someone unstoppable,” she said. “Be it money or strength, there’s a point where enough of it can change the world. With power, people can force their will on others. So what’s the answer, Oliver?”
“...” I smiled wryly, aware of how idealistic my answer would sound. “Talk it out like civilized people?”
“Yeah, I wish it’d work.” Frey sighed again. “It’s a tale as old as time. You need equal power to those who want to harm you. Without strength you can’t protect anything.” She shook her head. “Remember when Julian got possessed? If we hadn’t gotten stronger, we couldn’t have solved that problem as quickly as we did. Remember when we started talks with Luke Allen? We wouldn’t have been in an equal bargaining position if he didn’t have power.”
I didn’t like it, but I saw her point. “Then… Will it ever be enough?”
“Will you ever be a good enough musician?” she asked back.
“I think it’s a little different,” I said.
“It’s not,” she said. “I don’t want power to force our will on anyone. I want it solely so that it won't be done to us. I want power to protect you and for you to protect your girls. Well, that and to have fun. Within reason. Fun within reason.”
I guess she did have a point. Without power, we wouldn’t have been able to protect Mila from Julian’s bullshit, and that thought still scares the shit out of me. And with no guarantees for what the future may hold…
I sighed. “Alright, I get it. So? What does power have to do with what happened in the pool?”
Frey nodded and smirked again. “I should also note that I said that ‘we’ are strong. Not just me. Lots of sex, desires fulfilled, satisfied girlfriends, a new girl… Remember how I said you awakened to powers of your own? Well, you and me, Oliver, are reaching some new heights. The only issue is… I might have been unprepared for how much we’d grow.”
I frowned. “So… Our powers are out of control?”
“Well… Kind of, but it’s nothing to be worried about. What happened at the pool is… Mmm… How do I explain it? See, the two of us together make up a single ‘powerful being,’ ok? And there’s something that powerful beings can do, which I’ve heard called ‘territory claiming.’ Basically, when you get to a certain level, you can claim a piece of land as ‘yours’ if you truly believe it is. And, well, this IS your land now, isn’t it? The only issue here is that it started happening without us realizing it.”
You know, I wonder if this kind of stuff would make as much sense to me if I wasn’t as into fantasy RPGs as I am. She can tell me all this weird stuff and I can at least get an idea of what it means. That said, I’m not gonna just assume.
“So… What does claiming territory really mean?”
“A few things. Natural defences against outside magic and natural compatibility with yous, mainly. But yeah… I don’t REALLY need to explain what a territory attuned to lust magic means, right? You can figure it out by now.”
I groaned. “So that thing at the pool… It was everyone being affected by sexual magic or something like that?”
“Yeah, kind of. Feelings that were already there were enhanced, mostly. On top of it all, this is your territory, tied to your will. Mark didn’t have his girlfriend here, so he was unaffected. Your girls are used to the feeling of magic, so they didn’t even notice. It’s interesting that Thomas noticed, but it makes sense. He’s just aware enough to have noticed a shift in the atmosphere from what he considers ‘normal.’”
“Is this… something permanent? Or can we control it?”
“Of course we can control it, Oliver.” Frey scoffed as if I had offended her. “It was just a little slip because we’ve grown more than I expected us to, that’s all.”
I let out a sigh of relief. “Good.”
“For the record, I’d suggest not telling Luke about any of this. About your territory or your power.”
“Hm? Why not?”
“Because you should keep some cards to yourself,” Frey said. “Not that I don’t trust him, but you know. You can never be too careful. If it ever becomes relevant, then sure, go ahead, but he doesn’t need to know that now.”
Again, she has a point. I’m pretty sure Luke himself has plenty of cards that he’s keeping to himself. “Alright then. And what do we do about this… greater power?”
“Make our spells stronger, I suppose. I’ve been working on a new Normality spell to do naughty things in the open, one that doesn’t require runes. I’m confident that it’s good and that we have the power for it, but you need to get better at controlling the magic yourself first. So go around making drinks and cleaning cum stains for a while longer.”
“It’s like some Karate Kid type of training…” I muttered.
“A type of what?”
“Nevermind.” I shook my head.
“Well, you should be waking up soon, anyway. It’s been 30 minutes and the others should be getting up soon, too. Don’t let the orgy end so soon. This is great. Tell Fern I love her. Actually, tell all the girls I love them.” Frey stretched her arms upwards with a languid, happy moan.
“Are you sure I should continue? You’re gonna get fat if you eat so much,” I teased.
“Oliver, only a few succubi come in ‘fat’ size, and it’s always voluntary.”
“Lucky you. Well, I’m going.”
“Happy fucking.”
I would’ve laughed if she wasn’t so genuine about it.

Chapter 797: The future.
It was pretty much a power nap. Whatever tiredness I’d felt before, it was completely gone. I did feel a bit thirsty, though. Ugh, I felt a dumb, rebellious urge to not drink water simply because Frey told me to do it, but I stood up and poured myself a glass of water because I’m not a child anymore.
I grabbed my phone from the low table between the couches to check if I had any messages. None, meaning everything was alright downstairs. I emptied my glass, let out a satisfied sigh and looked towards the beds.
I know I’m a broken record, but I still find it hard to believe that I’m sharing this moment with seven girls. That I’m in a relationship with seven girls. Something I always fantasized about but, naturally, fully believed would never happen. Hell, even just having a single girlfriend seemed like a faraway dream. No, scratch that. I was sure I’d die a virgin.
Shows how much life can change in a moment, magic or not. I’ve changed, too, I guess. Although… I’m not sure if ‘changed’ is the right word. Despite mostly getting over my social anxiety, I’m still an introvert who doesn’t enjoy interaction with many people. Then again, seven girlfriends.
Well, whatever. I’m happy and I want this to last forever.
…
…
…
…
I… do want this to last forever, don’t I?
We’re living together, all of us save Fern, and I think I’m already preparing myself for the moment she’ll move in with us in the future. This is my… our home. It’s not a place we’re renting or anything. It’s ours. It’s a place where… we can put down roots, like my mom and the girls’ parents keep very subtly implying we should. Hell, from the talk I just had with Frey, I’m practically putting down magical roots, too.
There’s space for kids, a large backyard, a quiet atmosphere… Everyone says I’d make a good dad, even if I’m not that sure myself, but… slowly, the idea scares me less and less.
Am I rushing? It hasn’t even been a full year. Thomas’ birthday is next week, and that only makes it a year since Mila, Grace and I had our first foursome. We didn’t even start dating then. What am I doing thinking about the future? I’m still just a dumb 19 year old.
But then… WHEN is the time to start thinking about this stuff? I mean… we’re all serious about this relationship. We’ve all made pretty big decisions already with it in mind. I quite literally had no reason to get a house, let alone one this big, other than being able to stay with the girls after high school. I… do want to be with them forever.
…
The answer to that is usually marriage, isn’t it? But polygamy is out of the question purely for legal reasons. Magic is powerful, but I doubt it can change something like written law, and I don’t even think it should.
I don’t want to marry only one of the girls, though. I couldn’t choose if I had a gun to my head. It’s either all of them or none of them, and all of them is impossible.
But… it doesn’t really need to be marriage, does it? That’s just a legal paper. Sure, yeah, it’s more than that in practical terms, but for us… We don’t really need a piece of paper to tell us to stay together forever. Not like that same piece of paper keeps couples together, anyway. That said, I do get the symbolism.
It’s not about the paper and the practicalities, but about the promises to each other. It’s a big, meaningful gesture to show commitment to one another. Looking at it like that… couldn’t we have our own kind of ceremony? Knowing the girls, they’d appreciate a big party.
…
Well, I don’t know about ‘big,’ but some sort of party or ceremony is non-negotiable. I know they all want that sort of ‘special day’ and I’d be lying if said I didn’t want it, either. Personally, I’d rather something quiet with only close friends and family, but I do want to give the girls that sort of day, one that shows how much they mean to me. How much ALL of them mean to me.
Fuck, if I think about it like that, I should be throwing the biggest party the world has ever seen, then. I want to believe none of us would be happy with that, though.
…
So… if the ceremony and/or party is non-negotiable, that still leaves some questions. First of all… Should I formally propose? Like, in the way one would for marriage? I have a strong feeling they would like that, but I’d have to clarify that it’s not for formal marriage, and that in itself could be a bummer. The other question is… When? When to propose and when to have this ceremony? All things willing, I would do it tomorrow, but again, we haven’t been dating for a year. I haven’t been dating Fernanda for a week! Should I wait to be dating Fern for a year, then? Meaning two years for the others.
I think I started to feel a headache coming… Is this the pressure guys feel when they think about proposing? Or was mine multiplied by seven? It would all be so much easier if I could just ask the girls.
…
…
…
Why DON’T I just ask them? Yes, sure, the surprise is gone, but they’ll definitely know I’m thinking about something when they wake up. Besides, my relationship with them has always been like this. Ask when unsure. I still remember asking them about how a guy should give a girl a compliment.
Heh. In a way, Mila, Grace and Sarah taught me how to be a boyfriend. Or how to be THEIR boyfriend. By the time I asked Noelle and Alice, I already had an idea, but it still took a lot of talking things out. It’s been like that with Diana and Fernanda, too. Lots of talking and figuring out how we can best compliment each other.
…
Yeah, I’m just gonna talk to them. Maybe the surprise will be gone, but this isn’t a decision I should be making alone. It’s not about my life with them, but our life together. There’s a difference. I’ll talk to them.
I saw Noelle stir and nearly had a heart attack.
Yeah, I’ll talk to them, but not tonight. Soon, soon. Just… not now.
Can you blame a guy for being scared of the mere possibility of getting a negative answer?
