v2.4.0 adds floating damage/healing numbers, per-character quick notes, and a group system for swapping entire rosters at once. Scene-friendly NPCs auto-appear on the HUD, and layout editing gets several new tools.

📝 Card Quick Notes

Hover over any HUD card to reveal a note icon. Click it to write freeform text memos for that character — session reminders, status notes, or anything else. Notes persist across sessions. Available to all users — GM notes are stored on the actor (visible to all GMs), player notes are stored privately per-user.

💥 HP Change Popup

Floating numbers appear on HUD cards when HP changes. Red for damage, green for healing. Font size scales with the amount. Respects the Reduce Motion accessibility setting.

👥 Scene Friendly NPCs

Linked NPCs with Friendly disposition on the current scene automatically get HUD cards. No manual roster management — place a friendly token on the scene and the card appears. Auto-refreshes on scene change and token add/remove.

🌐 Online Players Only Mode

New option to only show HUD cards for characters whose player is currently connected. NPCs in the roster always stay visible. The HUD auto-refreshes on player connect/disconnect.

🖱️ Quick Roster Management

Right-click an actor in the Actor Directory to add or remove them from the HUD roster. Right-click a HUD card to remove it. No need to open settings. GM only.

🗂️ Actor Groups

Save the current actor selection as a named group and load it back later to swap the entire roster at once. Managed via a compact dropdown in the settings panel below the actor list. GM only.

🎨 Per-Dot Image Override

Dot-style attributes now have a "Dot Images" accordion in Image theme. Assign custom filled/empty dot images per attribute, with X/Y/Scale/Rotation/Opacity controls. Same concept as the existing per-bar image override.

🛠️ Layout Edit Mode

Card Scale Number Input: Card scale can now be typed directly in the mini panel instead of slider-only. Slider range expanded from 0.6–1.8 to 0.3–2.0.

Select All: Select all cards at once in Free Mode. Useful for bulk alignment and distribution.

Bring to View: Recover offscreen cards by bringing them back into the viewport. Cards less than 20% visible are automatically repositioned with staggered placement.

🔌 Tooltip Hook for System Integration

New stylishActionHudTooltipRendered hook fires after tooltip content is rendered, allowing game systems to activate custom interactive elements inside tooltips.

🐛Bug Fixes

Item Uses Not Adjustable via HUD: Fixed manual +/- adjustment on HUD stats linked to item uses (e.g. Ki Points, charges) silently failing on DnD5e 4.x+. The update was targeting system.uses.value, which became a computed getter; now correctly writes to system.uses.spent.

Menu Tab in Per-Actor Settings: The Menu tab was shown when editing individual actor settings, where it serves no purpose. Now only appears in Global settings.

PF2e Effects Not Shown: Temporary buff/debuff Effects (not just Conditions) now appear as icons on HUD cards for PF2e. Expired effects are excluded.

Amazing module, the possibilities are endless. Quick question: any plan or current way to start with a preset theme and be able to modify it? For example, removing one of the action menu category while keeping the others or changing the names of the menus? Or being able to add a custom menu while keeping the default ones as well. Thank you again for the awesome work!

Thanks for the kind words! You can actually do all of that already. Just head over to the "Menu" section in the settings. From there, you can modify the preset, change names, remove categories, or add your own custom ones.

Thanks for the quick response. Looks like I might have mucked up some configurations. Previously, when I went to the Menu section, it was completely blank. I tried the Reset button and now I see the default Menus and their options! I'll also be sure to utilize the Discord next time for troubleshooting, thanks again!

Hi, this mod is so cool! Does it support Tactical Grid? If not, will you consider supporting it in the future?

does this include a dnd tracking system? the video looks like its very automated on its on, wasn't sure if I needed other turn modules or not ty

The Glitch Smith

If you mean combat or turn tracking, Stylish Action HUD follows Foundry’s current combat state automatically. It highlights the actor whose turn it is and shows a convenient End Turn button when appropriate, so you do not need another turn module just for that basic flow. That said, it is not meant to replace a full advanced turn or encounter tracking module. If you want extra automation or more detailed D&D-specific tracking features, you may still want a dedicated turn or combat module.
