Andor S2E09 Watch Along

Love the first meeting between Cassian and Mon Mothma!

Nope, first "**it" was Season One of Andor, blurted out by Sergeant Mosk when he was on the roof looking for Cassian.

Chaos Owner

The rebel recruit with the blaster Vel recognized is Melshi(the other prisoner that escaped prison with Cassian in Season 1). Andor gave him the blaster before returning to Ferrix for Marva's funeral

Watching Rogue one after this series Is a really good idea. The movie fits in with the series so well, it's almost like another episode. The only potentially off-putting thing is that Rogue one is a bit more lighthearted and doesn't match the intensity of the series. Which is strange to say about what is already considered to be one of the heaviest star wars films. But definitely worth another watch.

I can't remember if it was this episode or the last where Jay commented on Andor having the coolest blaster in Star Wars but don't even get me started on how excited I was when I realized in Season 1 that Andor was rocking a Bryar pistol. Check out Dark Forces and Jedi Knight if you haven't. Such a cool nod to have Andor using (a different model of) Kyle Katarn's blaster of choice. (Seriously, I think I got more excited over the blaster than the Dark Troopers in Mando)

The gorgeous buildings in this episode are in Valencia , Spain!

The blaster Vel held up was the one Cassian gave to his buddy he escaped prison with. Melshi

I really appreciate the fact that they were holding ion disruptors at k2 at the end when they turned him on.

I love Andor. It's great. They should definitely make more shows like it. But I reject the notion that this is the only way to make good Star Wars. I'm 47 years old. I fell in love with Star Wars at 6 watching the first movie on a Betamax cassette my mother recorded off a TV broadcast. I don't ever want to get to the point where Star Wars is inaccessible to children.

Strongly encourage you to finish Rebels as there are direct connections to Andor, including an almost seamless continuation of Mothma’s escape.

I loved skeleton crew, I think there’s a place in Star Wars for that and for shows like Ahsoka or acolyte or boba fett, Star Wars needs that and it’s not the tone that’s the problem it’s the writing. U can have silly Star Wars with serious Star Wars but the silly stuff has to do better. Mando lost its way, boba fett meandered, Ahsoka had too much, Kenobi lacked urgency, acolyte was too crowded, they just need the shows to have a central theme and be more focused instead of throwing lore after lore and fan service with no meaning.

John

The dude you didn't recognize was Melshi, he escaped prison with Cassian, and he is part of the main crew in Rogue One. Cass gave him that blaster when they split up after breaking out

Brock

Finish Rebels. That is good/great Star Wars.

I was about to say! It's details like this, the stealing of the Death Star plans, and Jyn Erso sounding exactly like Jan Ors that make me feel that Rogue One started out as basically a Dark Forces movie. Cassian looks a lot like Kyle Katarn, too. The movie's first script writer was a PC Gamer editor, after all!

I really love how versatile Star Wars is, it's not often a show like this, and a show about kids going on a pirate adventure can work in the same series. I'm someone who's really enjoyed mostly everything they've put out since mando, but it's clear that their track record is inconsistent at best and I really wish their other stuff had this level of consistent quality. I'm hoping with disney restructuring their streaming stuff, things could be more consistently good, and since I believe there won't be anything else until Ahsoka S2, we'll have a lot of time to let this sink in, but also let lucasfilm make it *hopefully* the best it can be.
