Rewatching these with y'all and I just made the connection of Luthen telling Kleya to move and her smile at the very beginning and their interactions later in the episode. Just wow.

I love how Kleya's name is so close to mine: Kleya Marki=Karen Lee Markey

Yeah this show is the absolute best! I do think that andor should be applied to other Star Wars stuff with the Jedi and lightsabers too though. Imagine getting stories about the jedi with this type of storytelling and dialogue and effort put into it. Would be amazing.

Lucas wanted Star Wars to be modern legends and folk tales, that was the idea. So I think the overall story is there, but from story to story, the details are fudged or shifted depending on who it's being told by and to. The important stuff definitely happened, but maybe the inquisitors only fly with their helicopter lightsabers in the version of the Rebels story that was told to kids. The Empire is a bit more mustache-twirly "bad guys". But there is a version of it that actually happened. I kinda think of it like having a dial that adjusts the lens through which the story is seen or told, and on one end of the dial you have Resistance or the Young Jedi Adventures books, and on the other end is Andor, and everything else we've got is somewhere else on that spectrum. I don't need all Star Wars to have the same tone and style, but I would REALLY LIKE if we get more of this quality.

Yes. parts of this and the next episode were shot in Valencia, in Spain

Luthen's legacy is the Rebel Alliance and Kleya.

Probably the closest thing to "We've been in this fight for many years and we care about and have love for each other." Elizabeth Dulau also mentioned that Kleya has hatred for Luthen for doing what he did to her family but love grows around that, they'll just never say it. The little forehead kiss was as far as she would ever go in telling him she loves him as a father.

You guys finally got me to subscribe to Patreon by loving "Andor" so much. I really wanted to hear your full reactions to what I think is now the best trilogy of the franchise, namely Andor seasons 1 & 2 and Rogue One. Once I heard there was an Andor series coming, I knew it would be all that I wanted it to be, and it hasn't disappointed. As an older Peach, I saw Star Wars in the theater when I was 12 years old, and it has always been my favorite of all the SW films, but Rogue One is easily 1b.

If I may, it builds to Han Solo and Chewy saving Luke at the last second. Truly by the skin of their teeth they pull this off. So much sacrifice for the long shot to come in.

Kleya going all Splinter Cell (especially doming that trooper) is something I didn't know that I needed. Top notch

I’m really getting tired of people shitting on the original trilogy and everything that came before. Yes it’s a space opera it’s a different vibe. But don’t start treating Luke and Obi-Wan, as if they came in at the end and made it look easy yada yada yada ..like they’re just meh. NO!!!

I really enjoyed how Adam immediately knew Luthen was going to kill Loni and Jay immediately knew Kleya had no intention of rescuing Luthen.

No...Jay/Adama will probably never see this, but no lol I mentioned this on a previous reaction when Jay was talking about the OT not expressing how bad facisim/the Empire is... 1977 Star Wars: A New Hope was emulating the tone ~35 years after the fall of global fascism. Media from 1945 on was always assuming the horrors of 1930's rise of fascism as a given, so the tone was always the heroics of fighting that and quelling it. George Lucas's THX 1138 went relatively hard on how fascism works...so its not like Lucas didnt want to touch the subject. He did. But he made the choice to go pulp with Star Wars in order to appeal to a generation much removed from the 1930's, in a way THX 1138 failed to do. I appreciate Lucas's attempt to bring the warning signs of historical fascism back to the populace wrapped up in a sci fi fantasy. It helped bring the conversation back to younger generations that other media couldn't. And despite the online vitriol to the prequels from 1999 on, my God, that movie has been quoted and memed more than any other other film/tv show over the last 10 years as fascism/authoritarianism continues to grow and spread. Thats a testament to what star Wars attempted to do before now. Andor is a testament to what needs to be in the here and now of 2025. Im sure George Lucas is proud, but dont dismiss Lucas's Star Wars that proceeded it. Without the Prequels and Clone Wars tv series, there would be nothing close to Andor.
