Severance S2E04 Watch Along

Holy quadruple drop, Batman

I have a feeling that Irving was higher up in Lumon at one time. It explains the intel and having seen the exports hall. I think he and Milchick were also close at one time before he was severed. That look he gives him at the end of this episode was telling.

It's been so fascinating watching different reactors respond to the Helena reveal. Some suspected from S2E01, others didn't have any suspicion until the reveal. Most were somewhere in the middle. Watching you guys figure it out in real time as soon as Irv said "Helly was never cruel" was a delight! Britt Lower dis such an amazing job playing Helena-pretending-to-be-Helly, I think you'll see the difference right away next episode. I loved your reaction!

Kier was a very metaphorical guy. I think the Woe's Hollow parable was him retelling the tale of his "misspent youth" and how he left it behind to follow a "greater path". This relates very much to Helena Eagan's story and why she does what she does to Mark. But all this lore will probably take another season or two to pay off.

Debbie

She wasn't Helena the whole time, ONLY since the start of season 2

It’s so great that they got a pure reaction to that moment. Too often I see in the comment sections of other reactors’ Severance season 2 videos leading up to Woe’s Hollow, people trying to nudge and hint at them to notice certain things and prime them for a big plot twist. Makes for a far better reaction when they genuinely have no idea what’s coming.

Joey (Hustlemando)

So I guess that’s why we’ve never seen a Groot origin story 😂

michael denny

I had my suspicions, her rage has been completely absent.

Tay Schumaker

“Yes, do it Seth.” He says that so ice cold. Love it

Amy Story

From “Helly was never cruel” to the end of the episode is probably my favorite chunk of the series. So well performed by everyone, and LOVED to see your reaction to it!

Many had the painful advantage of having a week between each episode to theorycraft and dig into each episode making helena’s infiltration more expected. I really wasn’t surprised that our boys didn’t catch on with the binge pace they have going. It was a true delight to watch it hit them both like a ton of bricks, peak reaction content :)

Man I loved this episode... damn, the whole thing but there are a few standouts (personally, 4, 7, and 10 this season). I know you are finished now, but Mark is still innie Mark in this episode. He only had a brief flash of Gemma in a split second crossover when he was "with" Hellena.

Truly one of the finest episodes of television of all time. Watching this along with you guys is my third time, and I notice more every single time. HIGHLY recommend a personal second watch of this whole show. Helena’s performance in this episode is subtle and beautiful, and I notice it more and more each time. It’s incredible. The moments when she’s alone and isn’t in Helly mode, or very subtle cracks in the veneer…. Chef’s kiss. And yeah, as Irving says in one moment - she’s been Helena since they got back, not literally the whole time. So Helly’s last memory is at the Eagan ball thing where she learned she’s Helena. Everything since stepping out of that elevator after Mark demanded his team back was Helena. These actors are truly a tour de force and I fully expect multiple Emmy and golden globe noms for many of them.

My favorite details about it being Helena since S2E01 was in that first episode, Britt Lower's choice to have trouble turning on the computer in MDR as she wouldn't know exactly where the button was, and during the ending shot as the camera pans around the four of them at their desk, for a brief moment you can see Helena's screen reads "Santa Mira" which is the fictional town in "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". I would have never caught that last one, but the fact it's there just gives me so much respect for the people making this show.

Another great reaction guys. Second time through this season and I'm all in with you two.
