John Tuturro actually suggested Christopher Walken for the role of Burt because they were such close, long time friends. He though it would give a much more authentic feel to the relationship for Irving and Burt. Jay, I'm so glad you picked up on that!

In Severance season 2, episode 5’s opening scene, the song that the Lumon employee is whistling is “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.” The tune was written and sung by Gordon Lightfoot and originally released in 1976, and describes the 1975 sinking of the real freighter ship the SS Edmund Fitzgerald in Lake Superior.

The significance of the "hang in there" poster is when Irving was at the falls before he "died" he told Dylan to "Hang in there" it was clearly a hint to look behind the poster.

Debbie

The sheet of paper with instructions to the hallway with the elevator is called the "Export Hall" which the lady in Burt's office told Irving in an episode and irving asked her for the directions and he recorded them and hid it behind the poster because he knew he'd cause a fuss and get fired some day.

Debbie

Mark wasn't his outtie yet when Milchick said 'did she tell you you fucked her outtie at the ORTBO?" they don't change to their outties until after the elevator closes and they change as they go up the elevator. The reason Mark made that face was cuz he didn't know that Milchick knew what had happened.

Robert

Yeah, Mark is not reintegrated. He is in the very beginning stage at this point and only having brief flashes from his other self in each of his consciousnesses. He is still innie and outie in the correct places, they experiencing each others memories, like when Mark sees Gemma as Mss Casey at the end... Mark sees Gemma as Mss Casey. He still doesn't know who she is down there. Outie Mark also wouldn't know about the "Bullshit Gazette"... the fake redacted newspaper showing MDR in a parade.

Robert

And I don't think they realized the poster is of Dylan holding the OTC switches open during the big event (Dylan literally hanging in there). Still, love their reactions though :).

Ian

I'm with Jay on his theory regarding John Turturro's involvement in the show. I mean, it's John Turturro. You don't ask an actor of that calibre to be on your show; you thank him.
