If Gravity Falls wasn't 2D animated in such a simple cartoon way, and instead was more realistic or live-action, it'd be a full-on horror series. Some of the things that happen, and some of the monsters, are truly NIGHTMARISH.

Right? Almost every time we watch it either my husband or I will, at some point, pause look at the other and just say "Disney Channel" because we are just flabbergasted that some of this aired there.

"I've been twaumatized" gets me every time xD Sometimes I'm sad we don't do Halloween here like America does. Trick or Treating really didn't exist for us at the time. Now there are some who do it but still it isn't that wide spread. The holiday to dress up and collect candy on is carnival in spring instead. I've been a Penguin, a Teletubby, a Panda, all costumes made by my mom, it was awesome. Also 100% with Adam on it now. I really want to cosplay at some point but I want to do it RIGHT!

When you guys decided to continue with this series, there were two episodes I've been looking forward to you getting to. This was one of them (the second is later in season two). The candy I've personally always associated most with Halloween would be Reese's Pieces. Autumn is my jam, and the orange, yellow, and brown of the shells tickle that vibe in the best way.

As someone who does not like being scared really, I don't watch this episode a lot but it is such a good halloween episode. We really see as the show goes on how much it was never a childrens show. Alex Hirsch made the show he wanted and toned down whatever disney made him. The stuff he managed to include is crazy to see. And yes, the monster in this one is terrifying. I wasn't allowed to celebrate halloween as a kid so all of my trick or treating was done as an adult and now with my kids. Seeing them dress up is my favorite thing. My fav halloween candy is the thousand grand bars. I never see them except for halloween so I really enjoy them.

"Not S+P approved" on the party flyer was Alex Hirsch responding to Disney's standards and practices department continued efforts to censor the show. Which, in this case, ended up being funnier than the original plan.
