Hey Peaches! After finishing part 1 we immediately wanted to watch part 2. We even rearranged our shooting schedule so we could see how Paul wins over the Freman and takes the fight to the Harkonnens. We were straight up SHOOK by the end of the film, and can't wait to see the next one.

Dune 2 Watch Along

After seeing the first one on a TV screen I was very happy to see this one in the cinema. Came to Dune for the cinematoraphy and stayed for the story. That scene of Paul riding the worm is so well done! You really get to be with him, feel how hard it is to stay on while battered by sand, the sound design, incredible. Our vision is as limited as his until he stands up, and then have Zimmer's music come in, so good!

I think the most important thing we can take from all this is: Paul ain't the good guy.

Another thing I wanted to note was that not only was Chani betrayed due to Paul taking the hand of Princess Irulan, but Paul effectively lied to her in the end. The Fremen are now led by a foreigner. Fanatical soldiers now used as a tool in a Holy War. Her people no longer have a say in their own future. As you stated in the end, the story is a warning about false saviors/prophets and how they can lead your people to devastation. Paul fought against becoming what he foresaw and in the end, chose his family and his survival over the future of the Fremen and billions of lives. Just to clarify, Dune part 1 and part 2 is based off the first book. Dune Messiah was a followup written by Frank Herbert because people still took the wrong message from the first book and he really wanted to drive home the point.

I have been playing Dune Awakening like crazy and when I tell you the vibe and feel of the game is so much this Denis Villeneuve vision of the universe. The art is so good and for a survival game (Which I am biased in hours played) is a lovely flavor element to tell these stories and just put you in this universe. I play on my own server mainly do to anxiety but if anyone is interested in checking it out I have the space lol.

this movie skips the primary reason for this shift in decision making for Paul. They kill his son. I would burn the galaxy too.

Dune: Part Two achieved its black and white Harkonnen scenes by filming using infrared cameras with a special 3D rig, creating an eerie, otherworldly aesthetic rather than using post-production visual effects. This technical choice, inspired by the sun on the fictional planet Giedi Prime, revealed the world's aesthetic by making vibrant colors appear white and enhancing skin tones.

It’s astonishing part II didn’t get more recognition at the Oscars. Curse of the early month release and curse of the sci fi / fantasy trilogy
