Hey Peaches! You asked for it so we pushed it ahead in the schedule! Did you enjoy Pacific Rim? Well it's like that, but with a rat piloting a flesh Jaeger. And instead of fighting monsters they're cooking. Well, coming to think of it, they do kind of fight a few monsters at the end... Either way, we enjoyed watching Remy's journey of trying to fulfill his culinary dream!

Very personal wall of text incoming: This is my favourite movie! Not just Pixar movie, any movie. It means so much to me for many reasons and I'm so happy you enjoyed it. And I say that as someone who is the same about eating food as Adam. I didn't enjoy eating many foods and am a baker not a cook (aka scientist, you're right about that Jay. The creativity is in the decoration for me). Despite that I always LOVED to watch cooking shows. Especially with my dad, who also loved fine dining and food. We'd watch cooking shows on the weekends, we'd go to fancy restaurants even if I got a special dish I could eat, we'd BBQ on the balcony even in winter. When this film released we'd watch it a ton, he even got the cook book of Paul Bocuse, the chef Gusteau was among others based on. As I've alluded to a rough time you've helped me through before, my dad passed 4 years ago very suddenly. Since then this movie means even more to me. As a memory, but also because at it's core this film is about art and passion, not food. As an artist who hasn't really been successful yet, as an animator still trying to break into the industry, I can relate even more now. But most importantly, it will always remind me of my dad, watching it makes me feel closer to him. Thank you for the react!

Oh man — I haven’t started yet but I am *so* excited to see the reactions here! Also as an AuDHD person myself with a mess of kids of all combinations of those things, the beginning of this is getting me 😅 Edit: Just finished and I am SO glad you loved it, Adam! It’s excellent, charming, sweet, well-written, and well-executed.

Okay, not going to leave a big long comment on this one, but RE: time period This movie is like The Incredibles. Vaguely mid-century with some more modern-seeming tech and designs. It’s very retrofuture. Some things like DNA that shouldn’t exist, and yet all the TVs are either black and white or early color. The cars and bikes are all ‘60s, but Colette’s bike is full ElastiGirl sleek. I choose to believe this film takes place within The Incredibles universe.
