New free game: Hot Wax! 🕯️ No game & no charge in May! (Patreon)

Hi punks!

We hope you've been doing well! Here are some bits of news from us!

I did Ludum Dare two weeks ago and made Hot Wax with Pico-8 in under 72 hours! A little Tetris-style candle burning game! Since then I kept working on it for a postjam version, which I just finished today, and I think is much improved since the LD version!

We are planning to make a full Punkcake release out of this one. In fact it may well be our next game to come out! Which brings me to my next point...

Our next game will only come out in June. Originally we had plans to have one in April and then another one in May, but to quote Mike Tyson: everybody has a plan, until they get punched in the face. Thankfully no-one actually punched us in the face, but life is making things a little difficult for us at the moment. Don't worry though, this doesn't mean we're at the end of Punkcake, far from it, in fact this weird period is only making us want to get back into our old rhythm even more. We'll get there. 😤

One news that should help us do that: the team just expanded! We got a new junior dev making games with us now, her name is Eris and she's working on her first tentative Punkcake title: a dungeon-crawling dating sim called Your Otter Half! Check it out below:

Benjamin's prototype that I showed you the last two months is currently on pause as Benjamin explores some secret other things, but it's very likely to make a comeback eventually.

We still have our plans to update Shotgun King this summer, and we're hopeful to have a game in June and maybe another one in July. And in the meantime we hope you enjoy playing Hot Wax!! 🕯️
