NEWSCAKE: June game "Hot Wax" is late, no charge for July, Shotgun King update in the works (Patreon)

Hi punks, welcome to NEWSCAKE, your monthly punkcake update!

Speaking of which, there was no update last month, and also billings were not paused, so you were charged for June. We apologize. To be completely honest, I simply forgot, but also we were planning to have a game for June, so it seemed fine when I realized. I've been working on the new version of Hot Wax, and it was supposed to be done for this month, but once again, life got in the way of our otherwise perfectly reasonable plans.

I'm going through a bit of a strange time with personal stuff right now, I won't go into it but it has been impacting my efficiency at working on Hot Wax. The game is seeing progress but it's just very slow. Still, it should come sometime before the middle of July, and of course you won't get charged a second time for it.

Pentadrangle has been hard at work on the Hot Wax OST and it sounds amazing, it's already one of our favorite OSTs from all the games we made! We really can't wait for you all to hear it!

Parallel to that, Eris is still working on her game Your Otter Half, and it's also going somewhat slowly, and so we'll probably only have that one for August. She's putting a lot of work into it though, trying to deepen both the game's roguelike side and the dating-sim side and to have a decent amount of content for both!

Benjamin is also having weird times, but he switched tracks from other projects to start working on the Shotgun King update, and that's going well at least! You can already look forward to seeing a nice a little stack of new cards and some new shotguns added to the game, along with some brand new mechanics and a reworked AI.

We're hoping to have a beta for Shotgun King towards the end of July, and we're aiming to push it to the stable branch during the second half of August!

But July should already be pretty fun! Aside from the Hot Wax release and the Shotgun King beta, Benjamin, Eris and I are going to be spending 12 days together working on games, cooking up new prototypes and ideas. Expect a report of some sort at the end of the month!
