“Are you looking to move in a family?”“Nah.”Orin kept his eyes on the window twenty-something floors up and stared down at a city that was still covered in slush from the snow of a few days ago. “Just a laptop. Maybe a cat.”The pen hovered over her clipboard at that answer, Orin still looking forward while the woman at his side didn’t even bother to pretend like she wasn’t staring at him weird. A second later, she just went back to scribbling. Is that a red flag or just a weird flag? He honestly couldn’t say, but he also didn’t know the criteria. Personal judgement had its place on both ends, though, considering this was already the third apartment showing of the morning and he hadn’t really liked any of the places he’d seen yet.More than anything, Orin could tell that the real estate agent hadn’t really figured out what do do with him. Which was… fair, I guess. He hadn’t done much in figuring out what to do with himself either at this point, not anything past the whole ‘I have money now and I’m not living in a hotel anymore’ plan.It was far from a complicated plan, which moved it right up to the number one spot on his list for today; an actual home with his name on the deed — or lease, given he was renting. Not a penthouse or anything stupid like that because he definitely wasn’t Tony Stark — not with just few million at least — and he had no interest in becoming Tony either. He was cool off the drinking, and the escorts too, and the whole ‘Yeah, I speak French. I learned last month’ vibe. Hard pass. No, Orin was looking for something decent in Manhattan, preferably the Upper West Side; a place with enough room for his stuff and enough privacy that nobody needed to know his schedule. Building security was also a plus, just not the kind that involved ny jarheads with assault rifles breathing down his neck.
He didn’t expect there to be any but just saying. Being back in SHIELD yesterday had reminded him how much he wasn’t a fan of that, even if they couldn’t do a thing to him.
