Thanks for another Dexter drop! Tomorrow happens to be the 19th anniversary of the show & my 34th birthday. So I’m gonna consider this an early bday gift lol.

One of the most underrated episodes of the show I'd say, Dexter is definitely at his most vulnerable here. It's so upsetting because Dexter is obviously really broken over losing Astor and Cody. Everything fell apart for him in the span of 2 episodes. Also Quinn's actor seemed to lose a lot of weight in between season 4 and 5, so that's likely why he looks so different.

Yeah, there are 3 spin-off shows, in this order: Dexter New Blood (2021), Dexter Original Sin (2024), and Dexter Resurrection (2025). Original Sin is a direct prequel to the original show and New blood. I like it, and lots of people did, and it got greenlit for a second season, but this year, out of nowhere, they canceled it. And Dexter Resurrection just finished their first season, and from what I’ve heard, there are going to be more seasons and it is really good season, so it’s something at least.

I've seen the prequel (Original Sin) and two sequels. The most recent sequel, Resurrection was pretty good; I binged all 10 episodes in the past two days. There was something in Resurrection that reminded me of one of the seasons of American Horror Story. I won't say which one. I don't think Original Sin is necessary to watch before the two sequels. I enjoyed it. It got better and better with each episode. I just don't think it has any impact on the two sequels if you choose to stay on Dexter's current timeline.

Bit they are not necessary in order to understand Resurection, because the subject is addressed in Resurrection as well.
