Here is where this particular series started going downhill. While its exciting and entertaining, the facts are all wrong. Dexter knocked people out with M99, etorphine hydrochloride. NOT ketamine. While M99 might not have been readily available and ketamine was it was still never connected to the Bay Harbor Butcher and its wrong to fudge the facts. IMO

the ketamine stuff in this episode is a bit stupid. i mean in the context of new blood's story itself it's absolutely fine, but in the original series Dexter never used ketamine on his victims, it was another drug. It's just a weird retcon. but besides that I love New Blood, especially episode 8 and 9.

Did they ever explain why they reconned it? The fandom hates that, but I don't recall ever Googling what M88 is compared to Ketamine. I tried K when I was 19 but we rubbed it in our gums or up our nose and I basically floated to another suburb in the city.

@JB Dexter used M99, which was only really accessible to people a handful of ways in society, usually requiring a few particular occupations. M99 is called Etorphine. It is an opioid analgesic with a potency approximately 1,000 to 3,000 times that of morphine. Etorphine is often used to immobilize elephants and other large mammals. Etorphine is available legally only for veterinary medicine|veterinary use and is strictly governed by law. This is why such a small amount has such a fast reaction and lasts for hours, it's fatal to humans if not handled very carefully. It seems like this was changed out of a plot contrivance for this show but the prequel and resurrection once again reverts it. It's definitely a bit annoying but at least they seem to have learned from it.
