This is wild! I have been thinking about this movie so much lately because of the soundtrack. Spooky!

I love the style of this one — the direction, cinematography, editing and music, which was overseen by Trent Reznor (you can hear a bit of Nine Inch Nails in here, along with a few key tracks from Leonard Cohen's album The Future, which feels like a companion piece). I think I read Oliver Stone was trying to mimic the MTV style and pace at the time. As far as the meaning you mention, I remember seeing it in the theaters at the time and it's meant to reflect that early '90s fascination with true crime — as seen in the Wayne Gale character and glimpses from real cases seen in the TV shot at the end (in addition to OJ Simpson, you saw Rodney King, the Menendez Brothers and Lorena Bobbitt). But in the theme of killers as celebrities it does have some dark satire that endures today.
