Cold in the Desert with Marie Love (Patreon)

This set with Marie Love was shot along the Apache Trail in Arizona—and as warm as these photos look, it was actually down in the 40s.

That becomes a real problem in the desert, especially at elevation. Once the sun starts dropping behind the mountains, the temperature falls incredibly fast, the wind picks up and there’s absolutely nowhere to hide from it. Marie was standing on freezing rock in lingerie while we raced to make the most of the last few minutes of light.

You would never know it from the photos. She completely owned the cold, and the Queen of Hearts boots, white lace and golden desert light all came together perfectly. Beautiful images usually make the conditions look effortless—this one definitely wasn’t.
