1033 is a bit confusing, Kaido was hallucinating a stronger opponent, Luffy didn't get back up.

I think you kind of missed the ending of 1033. He already knocked Luffy off a while ago. Then he was just hallucinating a stronger version of Luffy getting back up and fighting back. It took him a while to realize he wasn't fighting against anybody at the end. That's why he was so confused at the end and said he was "unaware." Kaido unconsciously wanted to keep battling Luffy because he hasn't had a fight this good in a long time.

Dub update: in 1032, when Queen started firing at Chopper, he said "Let's play Dance Dance Raccoon!" and Big Mom called Ulti a "trampasaurus" Also, I only learned like last week that in the dub, Catviper is played by SungWon Cho, aka ProZD

Hera herself doesn't have a connection with thunder, but she's Zeus' wife in myth, hence the association. The actual mythological Hera is pretty brutal too. Heracles suffers a lot because of her (unlike in the Disney portrayal where Hercules is her son).

Tbh, the way I see it is like playing the final boss in Dark Souls, but you're upgrading your weapons as you go. Kaido atp has been jumped with the Akazaya and 5 Worst Generation while carrying an entire island. Yet his “health" wasn't down that much, as we can see he's totally fine after doing one-on-one with Luffy last time, and the whole island is still flying up in the sky. Luffy once figured out while fighting with Katakuri that Haki wears out the more time you fight. If anyone can keep up with Kaido's endurance, be it defense or offense, they'll match him. Yet we can see that Akazaya was destroyed, passed their baton to the Worst Generation, still wasn't enough, and that baton passed to Luffy. It shows how insane Kaido's endurace is. They currently aren't doing any long-lasting damage to him. Only will if they can keep up with Kaido's endurance, while doing what Luffy did which needs Conqueror's Haki to box with him. Tbh, up until now, we aren't on a winning team.

I never noticed that... wow. That's very cool. It was so subtle. My brain filled in the blanks and just thought that he disappeared because Kaido hit him really hard or something and Kaido was just surprised that he lost so easily.

It wasn't very clear in the manga either but Luffy is gone when Kaido starts smacking him on the ground but when he stands up you can see he has NONE of the wounds and is no longer bleeding Thats when Kaido starts hallucinating from the adrenaline
