Guys, is this show really worth watching (haven't watched it)? Be honest

MakkaPakka

Bleach is a bit like naruto, slow pacing and unserious but locks in hard when the time is right, great power scaling and overall a solid 7.5/10 show, I'm watching it for a second time along with Jack, would be a shame to not watch it with him i guess

Yeah it's definitely worth it. It's heavily underrated, and written much differently opposed to the usual shonen tropes. It has a TON of nuances, subtle themes woven into the narrative, poetic writing, foreshadowing, lore, amazing music, designs and characters etc. Especially with how TYBW unfolds which btw was recently named the highest rated anime of all time with an overall 72% 9/10 rating.

**Maybe Spoilers** Yes if, You like shounen. You can skip the filler and come back to it, like naruto and one piece. It's considered one of the big three. But it suffers from DBZ power creep. So i don't get attached to early characters. That being said the story is fun and if you like the soul reapers you'll be fine but anyone one else can be forgotten. Also they don't actually explain stuff with backstory. So you have to figure it out the filler is literal nonsense. but I personally like the filler tbh. That being said Chad is my favorite but again that's like krillin being your fav.

Also sometime loose ends aren't tied so it can be unsatisfactory

There weren't nearly as many moments from the manga that were cut in these two episodes, especially compared to episodes 2 and 3. One moment was during the scene on the rooftop before Chad shows up, where one of the schools thugs tries to force them to leave, but Ichigo refuses not giving a sh*t. Before any serious trouble starts, Chad shows up and immediately one-taps him off screen and the scene proceeds as it does in the anime. Almost an inconsequential moment to cut since it doesn't really establish much of anything that already gets fleshed out properly relatively quickly in these two episodes and beyond. Though it does kinda reinforce Ichigo’s quiet confidence and his growing comfort in his new “protector” role. The more meaningful omission is Karin’s bathroom scene; it shows Karin getting sick and vomiting in the bathroom at her school. It seems to tie directly to her seeing the parakeet’s tragic memories. Her reaction is a visceral, physical response to the intense emotional and spiritual trauma bound within the bird, which only spiritually aware individuals like her can perceive. That’s a lot more impactful than the anime lets on. But overall, Orihime still very much reigns supreme in terms of most character establishing moments cut =( Honestly, folks in Ichigo's class assuming he and Rukia are romantically involved is admittedly a common occurrence in both the manga and the anime; in a way it makes sense considering they spend an unusual amount of time together, unaware of their more "spiritual" connection. it's intended to be comedic misunderstanding, and that mostly follows through in episode 4, but the anime sometimes struggles to keep that distinction clear in some future episodes in both subtle and annoyingly obvious ways =|

jack in his gta 5 russian tennis player arc i dig it

Comparing bleach with Naruto is an absolute insult to Naruto. Bleach has no story. It’s just ichigo getting more power ups and fighting new people and occasionally saving orihime or rukia. It’s just dragon ball but a lot less fun, cool and impactful

Pandrix

Lmaoo this is a take from someone that hasn't watched or read Bleach. Explain the core theme of Bleach for me, or the subtle nuances with the narrative and nuanced conflict that occurs. Bleach is nothing like Dragon Ball and isn't just about power ups or saving them notice how the overarching plot isn't even about Rukia or Orihime? Also all of Ichigo's powers are subtexually woven into Bleach's story meaning they are an important aspect of the narrative and build off the conflict of stagnation vs evolution and self actualization through death

STRIDE

it is :)

I think you got one thing mixed up. Soul Reapers don't choose where they send a soul (Soul Society or Hell), it is automatic from Rukia's perspective. There are two opposing ways souls pass on. There is the Konso, which is the ceremony where Soul Reaper's tap the base of the sword to a deceased person's forehead, and then there is the slaying of hollows. They have the same end result of sending the soul to Soul Society, which is the afterlife. When a Soul Reaper kills a hollow, it cleanses the soul and sends it to Soul Society. However, if the hollow committed sins while they were alive then they are instead automatically sent to hell. Rukia did not decide that he deserved to go to hell... it was decided automatically via unknown means. We don't really know how bad their crimes have to be, but it is probably similar criteria to what crimes we would expect someone to go to Hell for IRL.

DiamonDust

Yes? One of the best anime of all time easily

Also I love that Jack is vibing with Bleach's humor. Our man Chad beating the brakes off of a hollow while being unable to see it makes me smile everytime - it's gold.
