Imagine being Enel and watching Luffy throw lightning like nothing. I want a rematch so bad it’d be hilarious

Hbk

Jack doesn't appreciate Orochi's amazingness enough

SimStu

Seeing the messages on the balloons made me tear up, I'm gonna burst into tears all over again when I see Toko's

Ender

I love the depictions of this episodes, like the whole pain of this country in the symbol of people dieing staying strong even when suffering two decades and now beeing happy do give up the live to end it all, praying to the Sun God Nika, a culmination of emotions, just wow

Saint Bonnie🎭™

Luffy springboarding off lighting like it’s wwe ropes is crazy work 💀

Monsieur Sanji

Also, you're really underselling Kaido here >.>'. He is up to this point the strongest creature of the One Piece world, he ALSO has a mythical zoan and was judged unbeatable in a one on one up to now. If Luffy could just end him like it was nothing we could just end OP now while we're at it.

Jonathan

My favorite fan theory is that Luffy is always so partial to people who feed him because it resembles the act of making an offering to a Diety.

TripleZed

still think kaido is stronger than luffy tbh

Kaptin81

If Momo had stayed like Hyori the battle would never have came about. It's because of Momo that Kinomon meet the Straw Hats.

Captaintrips

The whole fight of 1074 is probably my favorite in the whole series so far. So many cool little details while they're trading blows. - Kaido using futuresight to avoid the lightning - Luffy on demon time with the red eyes - Kaido canceling the rubberized lightning with pure haki - Kaido using skywalk to move around - Luffy crapping his pants and actually looking scared/blocking with armanent haki when kaido uses destroyer of death. I don't think he had even tried to actually block any attacks since G5 until this It's just a crazy sequence.

Joshua

Maybe he'll come down from the moon at some point.

Joshua

Kaido's not saying someone with a devil fruit can't rule, he's saying the devil fruit isn't what enables the power to rule; but rather their haki.

Joshua

I guess as an addition, we see all the prayers of those from the fire festival rise past Onigashima right as Luffy starts kicking off again.

I always felt like it was a point to NOT give Orochi any redemable qualities or traits I could sympathize about. His past and the past of his clan is messed up, and that shouldn't have happened to them. Orochi, as a character, is humanly flaud, he falls victim to all of his humanly vices; lust, greed, wrath, envy, gluttony, and sloth. And he acts out on them to horrible effect. He truly felt like a caricature of certain dictators and horrible leaders that come to mind. I mean if your looking for sympathetic villains/antagonist Kaido and King are right there. I genuinly felt so grateful that Oda didn't try to make me feel sorry for Orochi, because that's also so realistic. There are some people who choose to do terribel, horrible things when given the power to.

Gazebo

The music throughout 1075 during the flashback compilation is just so moving to me. It’s beautiful and heartbreaking how everyone is reaching for help/hope and then that help is finally there in the form of Luffy

Zura Janai, Katsura Da

At the end of Wano Oda revealed Zoro’s entire family history in an SBS. He stated it will likely not have its own part in the story and is completely extra information. I recommend looking up yourself because it is interesting.

Artemis

I recommend not, because it will be in the story later anyways.

Gita

You asked how Kaido is this powerful, but Bro, he's the strongest "creature" in the world. There are some reasons why the World Government has so many powerful forces, but they didn't go after Kaido for so long. One of them is how strong he is. Not everyone can hurt him, even IF they can hurt him, not everyone has the stamina to weaken him, and even if he is weakened, not everyone can take him down completely, let alone have the forces to take down his commanders. No one can take down Kaido in that flying Island unless it's Luffy, but this battle is not for Luffy to elevate himself only, but also his crew. 1075 is insane. It showed the colonization that Kaido did, and people in Wano who are imprisoned throughout two decades as slaves in their own land, pray every second to let someone help them, free them, liberate them. The way the samurai in Onigashima pray to Luffy to liberate them, and Luffy being the sun God, the God that slaves pray to free them. It's just peak.

Takeo Ryuu

Yeah this is pretty much it. Oda easily could have made Orochi a redeemable villain considering his origins, but the point is that Kaido is simply too practical of a villain to really make the readers hate him that much. This isn't like Dressrosa, where Doflamingo's absolute sadism and manipulation make for an amazing feeling when his secrets are brought to the light- Kaido is simply a run of the mill dictator who has given up on hope and thinks war and violence is the only thing that holds any weight in the world. His character, while interesting, is more a foil to Luffy's than anything particularly meaningful on its own. So we need Orochi. We need something to anchor this entire saga running all the way back from Punk Hazard, some sort of deep evil that makes the liberation of Wano actually feel like the freedom that it is supposed to represent. Kaido's factories and oppression is definitely pretty terrible, but it's Orochi's emotional abuse and straight up pure evil that REALLY hurts. People being poor and hungry is one thing, but to force those people to lose all expression except for laughter, even in the face of the death of their loved ones, is something only the Celestial Dragons can top in terms of evil. It also justifies the hatred of the Scabbards, and Hiyori. If Orochi was not that bad of a guy and instead was wronged by the Kozuki's, then the Scabbards' quest for liberation would feel more like a quest of vengeance. It would feel less like the coming of a new dawn and instead the continuation of a cycle of hatred. Kozuki's kill the Kurozumi's, so the surviving Kurozumi kills the Kozuki's, and then the surviving Kozuki's kill the Kurozumi's again. But the fact that Orochi didn't settle on vengeance, but went so far and beyond that including wreaking his anger on innocents, children, and everyone on Wano that wasn't Kaido or his subordinates, made it so that his defeat felt significantly more justified in nature. It's not the Kozuki's exterminating Orochi out of revenge anymore- it's the freeing of an oppressed and abused people. Some readers even somehow still confused this theme after Hiyori's upcoming speech about Kurozumi burning but it was always obvious to me that it was more of an ironic line told to tear away any semblance of honor from Orochi's death in light of Oden's honor when he died. It was made quite clear after the fact that the Kozuki's had no intent to hunt down other Kurozumi's after Kaido's defeat, otherwise Tama also would have been in danger. I do want to mention that I do think it would have been/could be an interesting plot point given that Tama is a Kurozumi for her to be hated by Wano's freed citizens for her relation to Orochi. It would make sense given their history and customs, and it would tie up the themes of generational hatred better (like in Fishman island) for us to see Momo or Hiyori very clearly take a stand against hatred for family connections and blood. I do tend to think that either Oda or his editors were kind of rushing to tie up Wano and so we didn't get to see this happen. Given that we're currently following Tama and Yamato in a cover story I was hoping we might touch on this but it doesn't seem likely.

Dark Kronis

kaido went from final boss to the underdog and i love it

bro you need to do a video going over every single impact frame at least for 1074 and the big mom episode... this level of animation is unreal. The one of Luffy standing on the clouds upside down where he does the gear 2 pose and the close up on Luffy's eye reflecting the demon that is Kaido might be my two favorite animation sequences in anime. I can understand where some people are coming from when they say these episodes are moving too fast to even be able to tell what's happening but the way I see it, Luffy is a god fighting damn near another god so we can't expect them to move like regular humans. The level of power that these two are fighting at now is faster, stronger, and more durable than regular people can even comprehend. I'm the complete opposite from people who say it's moving too fast and I think it perfectly fits the goofy, carefree, but intentional and determined world Oda has created. I'm beyond grateful that Toei understands the importance of these fights and what they mean for the story.

Blackest Hippy

lol what? if oda doesn't think it will ever come up in the story so he revealed it himself, then it's completely fine for jack to get the information

Cleric7

Yeah, if you didn't catch it the only reason it took so long to kill a Roche is all of his head had to be decapitated. He was down to the final one

DiamonDust

"Orochi is almost too unlikeable". Yes, that's why generally I prefer Naruto style villains like Nagato, Madara, or Obito to One Piece villains. I don't even really give AF about Kaido, Big Mom, or Orochi as characters tbh, which is weird since they are such major villains. Naruto by comparison gives a ton of depth to its villains, and often makes their reasoning at least somewhat understandable. One Piece usually has villains that are just pure irredeemable evil and their overall reasoning is more shallow by comparison. I feel like the best formula is to have a mix of the two types of villains, because pure evil villains like Doflamingo or Orochimaru still bring a ton of value to the story and are amazing characters.

needs to be done!

Okay, a couple of things. A. Talk no jutsu is boring and unrealistic B. Madara should have been the final villain to save us from the travesty that is…. boruto… jesus. C. Orochi was the product of REVENGE, he hated the kozuki clan because they slaughtered his family, he was given the chance at revenge and had no qualms making the people who were complicit suffer. I agree with big mom take, I’m not really a fan, but Kaido was trying to wage war on the world, why should he care about 1 country when he’s trying to gear up to take on the entire world government to start a revolution. D. Naruto characters and villains having more depth is a WILD take… the akatsuki members were mostly in it for the money or for sadism, Sakura crushing on a dude that has assaulted her, called her trash, tried to kill her, and kept chasing him just because she had a childhood crush on him is INSANE. E. Which naruto villain has depth? Madara? Pain? Obito? They literally all couldn’t accept reality and opted for the infinite tsukiyomi… that’s not depth, that’s putting a bandaid on a shitty situation. That’s boring writing. If you’re looking for depth, look at the world elders who are trying to prevent revolution in one piece by suppressing world history and a literal god. Look at doflamingo who was treated like a god and brought down by his father to become a peasant, and lashing out because he believes everyone’s beneath him. Look at Katakuri who believed his weakness would cause his family pain because the one time he showed it, his sister brulee was scarred for life, so he took on the guise of an indestructible paragon to prevent that from ever happening again. Bull crap naruto has more depth. Oda is a better writer in every way. Naruto’s good, but it can’t hold a candle to one piece world building and story telling. You have to look past the SEVERE unlinkability of the characters in one piece and see it from their PoV. World nobles are treated like gods, and protected by paragons of strength, (admirals) they have never been punished, of course they’re going to be sadistic pos’. Orochi’s family was slaughtered by the kozuki, ofc he’s not going to give af about the people of wano. They were complicit. Your take is WILD.

Jonas Teigen

A. Talk no Jutsu isn’t boring or unrealistic. Naruto’s enemies aren’t just evil, they’re people who’ve been through hell and lost their way. Talking things out instead of throwing hands every time? That’s real. And it’s not just a gimmick, it’s tied to the whole theme of the show. Naruto’s carrying Jiraiya’s dream of peace through understanding, not violence. That’s solid writing. B. Sasuke was the final villain. Boruto doesn’t count in this convo, it’s a whole different show. Like comparing The Hobbit to Lord of the Rings. C. Orochi had a revenge motive, sure, but he’s still a mid character. Cowardly, annoying, way too much screen time, and completely overshadowed by Kaido. He had a reason to be evil but not much growth after that, no real threat, just filler energy. D. Both series has some bad characters. Naruto has Sakura moments that make you cringe, but it also has legends. Even more bad characters in one piece imo, but OP is also longer. E. Naruto’s villains have depth. Pain wanted peace after losing everything. Obito is Naruto’s dark mirror, twisted by grief. Madara tried to fix a broken world his own way. These guys aren’t just evil, they’re complex, and their ideologies challenge Naruto’s beliefs. One Piece nails world-building, but Naruto dives deep into emotional and moral conflict. Both are great in their own lane. Obviously, One Piece has better writing overall, but the highest points in Naruto, especially its villains and emotional moments, are right up there with the best of One Piece. And yeah, Doflamingo and Katakuri are top-tier. But Kaido? Hyped for years, and his backstory boiled down to “I wanna be strong.” And not something deep or interesting, it’s just disappointing.

Yoji

Yeah, go ahead and try to convert a die hard republican to a democrat. When you can do that, then I’ll believe talk no jutsu is real. Til then, it’s unrealistic. Agreed with orochi being mid, but that wasn’t my point. Naruto villains being complex is laughable. They are angry life didn’t go their way and want to make an infinite paradise. That’s not complex, that’s lazy writing. Not even going into it with kaido because i 100% agree until we get more of the rocks back story.
