Did you really say you haven't seen anything that makes soul reapers look evil? Mayuri slaughtered his own men, killed off quincies and experimented on them, they tried to execute Rukia unjustly and just because they had hollow powers planned to execute all the vizards. Tosen also probably thinks that if he is the right hand of God (Aizen) he can make the world a better place, like slaughter a few thousand now and save billions later kind of thing

yeah, i've brought this up during Zommari's fight and I think maybe another time. The show makes it clear that the Soul Reaper's actions aren't always well intentioned. Not even always altruistic. It's just that viewers are following the soul reapers's perspective so we think they're the good guys since its our main group. Hollows and quincies would beg to differ, even humans may differ from soul society's ways.

Obviously from the perspective of Ichigo, who works with Soul Reapers, those Soul Reapers look like the good guys, but is has been established already that Soul Reapers are not a "force of good" but more like a "force of necessity". The Soul Society has a very black and white view of "What is right, and what isn't" which doesn't always align with everyone, like the whole Rukia fiasco or even in this Arc the Vizored. If it weren't for Urahara, the Vizored would have been executed because they "became" Hollow. They wouldn't have cared about the how and why and if it would have been possible to reverse. They were enemies, which was their death sentence and Urahara understood that and it caused him to "betray" the Gotei 13 to save the Vizored. It was also touched upon in the Introduction Arc with Ishida, that the Soul Society and Quincies have been at odds with each other too because they fundamentally work against each other, like in the way that they fight Hollows for example. Soul Reapers free the souls of the Hollows they defeat but Quincies straight-up erase them, due to how their powers work. From Ishida's perspective, Soul Reapers are evil, cause they exterminated the Quincies, but from the Soul Reaper's viewpoint, they believed that they NEEDED to do it, to restore the balance of how things should be. Granted, that Soul Reaper vs Quincy dilemma has only been touched upon Ishida's introduction ages ago and a little during the fight against Mayuri, so I don't blame you for forgetting that, but it's only more proof that Soul Reaper have their own code, which they follow, which is not truly good and not truly evil, but necessary. If it is PERCIEVED as good or evil, it is just a perspective thing. Also Mayuri exists. That's a thing. Take it how you will!

I usually defend all of Tite Kubo's writing decisions but if I could rewrite anything I'd have Rukia go with Ichigo to fight Aizen along with the other captains and Yammy just wouldn't exist. Komamura vs Tosen peak tho

as much of a joke as Yammy may be, it took Chad, Renji, Ichigo, Kenpachi, and Byakuya to beat him lol. he's slow but he's an absolute UNIT
