NE OBLIVISCARIS, "Equus" (Official Music Video) 2022

Progressive metal masters NE OBLIVISCARIS are now sharing the official music video for 'Equus,' taken from their new album, 'Exul!' The band comments on the video's powerful message: "'Equus' is dedicated to the lives lost during the lethal bushfires that scarred Australia in 2019-2020. Alongside the people who died or were affected, many millions if not billions of animals were killed or displaced from their natural habitats, the enormity of this is something that will never be forgotten, and should not be ignored. It is also a warning that the world we live in is changing from the damage we as a species have contributed to. Within this video, the dancer represents a scorched Mother Earth, from horror to humanity, ever in tune with the heart and flow of the song (and world), and ultimately aware of the inevitable and ever growing destructive cycle we are in." 'Exul' is due March 24, 2023 ► Order 'Exul' here: ► Download/stream here: https://orcd.co/neoexul ► More info + a detailed bio: https://www.season-of-mist.com/bands/ne-obliviscaris/ Recording Lineup: Xen- Harsh Vocals Tim Charles – Clean Vocals, Violin, Viola & Keyboards Benjamin Baret- Lead Guitars Matthew Klavins- Guitar Martino Garattoni - Bass Dan Presland- Drums Current Lineup: Xen- Harsh Vocals Tim Charles – Clean Vocals, Violin, Viola & Keyboard Benjamin Baret- Lead & Acoustic Guitar Matthew Klavins- Guitar Martino Garattoni - Bass Guest Musicians: Additional Violin performed by Emma Charles Additional vocals performed by Alana K Vocal Cello on performed by Dalai Theofilopoulou EQUUS VIDEO CREDITS: Directed and Produced by Xenoyr Director of Photography - Dave Hunter (Band Factory Media www.bandfactorymedia.com ) Edited by Dave Hunter CAST: Dancer - Naomi Stienstra Red - Liam Ainsworth Horse - Murray Quartet: Tim Charles (violin) Emma Charles (violin) Ciara McCoppin (Viola) Sophie Anderson (Cello) Choir: Liam Ainsworth Sarah Thomson Will Moor Benjamin Ong Joey Knight Karlo Doroc Meredith Rouse CREDITS: Make-up for dancer by Sarah Thomson Make-up for “Red” by Xenoyr Coffin by Dale Bamford (Nightshade FX), Xenoyr, Herman Olguin, Emma Rose Skulls by Dale Bamford (Nightshade FX) Additional footage filmed by Antoine Lotz of Lensflare & Larsen Filmed at DCF Studios and select rural locations Thank you to: Carly Wines Lincoln Wines Marzia Magris Karen Smith “Anna” (RIP) No beings were harmed during the making of Equus #neobliviscaris #progressivemetal #exul Follow Ne Obliviscaris: https://neobliviscarissom.bandcamp.com/music https://www.facebook.com/NeObliviscarisBand https://www.instagram.com/neobliviscarisofficial/ https://twitter.com/NeObliviscaris3 https://www.patreon.com/neobliviscaris Subscribe to Season Of Mist for new releases ► https://som.lnk.to/YouTube Follow Season Of Mist: http://www.season-of-mist.com http://www.facebook.com/seasonofmistofficial https://www.instagram.com/seasonofmistofficial https://twitter.com/seasonofmistofficial http://www.youtube.com/SeasonOfMistLabel https://open.spotify.com/user/seasonofmist --- Season of Mist has always been known for being an innovative and wide spectrum label, interested in exploring and developing new artists and bands. did not get to listen with good audio quality during the zoom meeting but god damn its good

Denise Hallock

Absolutely beautiful. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.

Tina

Impericon is late..... but what else to expect from a shop in Germany......🙈🤷‍♀️ And will there be tshirts for women, too? Seasons of Mist currently only has a men's tshirt....🤔

Tina

Not on my computer, Robbie, but I'll try harder to spot them!!😅🤷‍♀️

Robbie Pflughoeft

all their print on demand designs allow you pick your "style" for that shirt.

Tina

Ah, women's tshirts under "create your own bundle".🤦‍♀️

Valerie Syren

Gentlemen...it's perfect. Thank you.

BK

Got my order in! Lots of options in the AU store. And now the wait continues...again...for the actual album & live bluray to arrive. I'm going to hold off on listening to Equus again until the album is in my hands. I don't want to spoil it. Thanks NeO for what is sure to be an outstanding record.

Kamilla

Welcome back, you guys! This is amazing 🖤👌

Val

Amazing, beautiful, grandiose ; no words, only heart-eyes. Thank you so much guys. This is phenomenal. 🖤

JenR-C

Amazing. <3

Marouane .Frini

It's absolutely breathtaking ! I literally had tears in my eyes ! It's just perfection made music !

Yasith

10/10 my friends !

Anyone else having a issue trying to stream on Apple Music? Can’t seem to find the single on there.

Ne Obliviscaris

Issues with that platform currently, it’s being looked into

Ne Obliviscaris

FYI-- it went on... then disappeared. The label is trying to work out why and get it back on ASAP. It is on other streaming services such as Spotify etc. - Tim

Moss HD

I began as a patron right around the time you posted the video that you were filming this. Agonizing wait... I can't believe it's here. It exceeds expectations, just...damn...

Kenny V

Thank you for letting us know, I also purchased the patreon bundle all the designs look amazing, can’t wait to see you in NY when you come to the US

JenR-C

Oh good! It wasn't just me!

Niklas Pettersson

I’ve been lifting up your listening numbers of this song on Spotify this morning.. In true NeO fashion a great design and composition. 👏🏻 To be honest, during the preview party #1 I didn’t feel it. The audio over zoom just doesn’t connect with me - so much dynamic range was missing and I felt quite underwhelmed. Now, listening with proper fidelity, this is great! Hats off to you gents for your work, and through a challenging pandemic situation. Looking forward to the whole album (at least Graal) for some increasingly heavy stuff 🤘🏻🙌🏻

Laurie Andrews

Beautiful! It brought tears to my eyes. I can feel the emotion in the song. Excellent job <3

Simoneedle

(Personal opinion obv) i think the song is so strong also becacuse the topic is so important and it invests many of us on an emotional if not personal level. I think your work did justice to the intensity and importance of it, in general i think this issue should be faced more often from many artistic standpoints

Rina Stricker

It's great, got goosebumps all over. Thank you very much for doing and sharing.

Marek Bednář

On my 7th listen now and liking it more and more. Gotta be honest, didn't get into it at first listen, but that's nothing new, Painters of the Tempest is my favourite song of all time now and I bounced right off of it on the first few listens. But as I played this more, I really started to appreciate more of the nuances, The additional violins (and full showcasing of the artists by their inclusion in the video) were great, though I'd wager we're not seeing Emma on the tour XD Also this might just be the clearest I've ever heard a bass in any song. Normally I have to really listen for it but here it just stands out on its own. The moment it really clicked (3rd listen) was when I read about the idea behind the song...ooof. When I first saw the cover for the album I was a bit worried it's gonna be less dark, more epic, power-metaly if you will. But nope. It's fucking sad, and it should be. People like to turn away from the unpleasant and look for an uplifting, optimistic message to end on. And that clinging to comfort is what's about to end us. Only sadness and tears will move people to action and this song gives you a double dose of sadness, with a side of melancholy, with a bit of pathos sprinkled on top. Xen's final screams encapsulate the pain we should feel.

Dominika

I properly cried at the end

Avintha Fonseka

The best songs are definitely the ones that require multiple listens to get into \m/

Simone Reddell-Ducrot

My mum watched and listened to the music video today after I posted it on fb. Metal is NOT her thing at all but she said it was amazing and she marveled at the musicality and she especially loved Tim 😅.

Tina

All moms love Tim. I wonder why they don't love Xen!🤣🙈

Simone Reddell-Ducrot

Oh she would love Xen…she jus doesn’t like the “raucous” singing 😂😂😂

Mat

I do. And my daughter too. 🤣🤣🤣

Simone Reddell-Ducrot

When I watched this during the zoom meeting I was actually in tears. I lived in Australia for almost 6 years and saw first hand the devastation caused by the fires. Heartbreakingly beautiful video and track 💔🖤

Jeanette King

Wow. Amazing song and video. It doesn't feel like 12 minutes. Well done guys. Can't wait for the new album and hopefully a tour in AU next year.

Marek Bednář

Well, not necessarily. For instance, Pyrrhic, Eyrie and Forget Not tore at my soul the moment I put them on. They're not shallow, there's depth there, but they're effective at getting to you instantly.

karlo doroc

most of the way through my first listen i wasn't super convinced, though even then those last few minutes gave me goosebumps! on repeat listens i think it's already up there as one of my favourite NeO songs - absolutely love it, and the video is stunning too

Dina

I already loved it on first listen! ❤

Juan Aguilar

First of all, excellent song and video! I loved it the first time I heard it on the zoom call and it sounds better with each new listen. Masterclass musicianship all around. It was well worth the wait! I have a question about the runtime though. All of the sources show that Equus is 12:13, but the music video, spotify, and bandcamp all show the runtime as being 12:29. Are the times for the other tracks accurate?

Yasith

Definitely requires more listen when they are complex with many parts! I love how there are powerful meaning behind the lyrics ! 🤘

Eric Zibert

Love the song! But why isn‘t it available on Apple Music?

Johan Klovsjö

Ne Obliviscaris

Apparently Apple Music rejected it (their system did) because they don't allow 10min+ long singles haha

Ne Obliviscaris

There is a workaround, but the label forgot to double check that the digital distributor had put it in place so it went up... and then disappeared. Hopefully should be up very soon

Tina

Yeah, took me a few spins as well, but it gets more addictive each time. And the background knowledge makes it even more special.

Eric Zibert

Thanks for the information! See you in May in Cologne!

Stan

Like probably everyone else here, I've had the song on repeat for the past days already - though mainly during commuting. This morning, I was finally able to really sit down to listen to the song with full attention and watch the music video for the first time. Oh. My. God. The whole production is just so damn perfect. The way the music delivers the song's message, it blows my mind. Moreover, the dancer depicting "The Mother", for me, very much resembles my own mother's battle with cancer and her subsequent passing which happened two months ago. The music in combination with the video helped me to release emotions in a way I wasn't able to do before. Thank you very much for that, guys. Can't wait to finally see you in Leiden (NL) next may!

Tina

My condolences for your loss, Stan.💔

Austin Stonewall Hudson

I noticed this issue too because I went to buy the digital album from iTunes and same issues. I figured it was because Equus is a quarter of the record and they didn't wanna let it go for $1.29. So I said fuck Apple and bought the digital copy from their bandcamp and paid double for it.

Niels Swinkels

The song is epic and brilliant. I’ve had it on repeat nonstop. Worth the wait and couldn’t be happier to have you back!
