Inktober Day 21: Building a Consistent Art Habit During Inktober (Patreon)
Content
Hello, lovelies! 🌿
This Inktober, I’ve been focusing a lot on building consistency. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of showing up every day, even when I don’t feel like drawing. There are days when I’m just not in the mood, or life gets so busy that finding time to draw feels impossible. But on those days, I remind myself that it’s okay to create something simple. Just sitting down with my sketchbook, no matter how small the effort, helps me stay on track and keep the habit alive.
Here are a few things that have helped me stay consistent:
Making My Workspace a Sanctuary 🎨Having a cozy, inviting space to draw in really makes a difference. I try to keep my drawing area tidy, with my favorite supplies within reach, so that when I sit down, I actually want to be there. Lighting a candle feels like setting up a little ritual for creativity, making it feel more special and less like a chore. Personally, I like a quiet, calm atmosphere without any distractions—no YouTube or background noise, since I’m terrible at multitasking! I even lock my door so I can have 30-60 minutes of undisturbed drawing time, just for myself.
Taking It Step by Step 📝On days when I don’t have the energy for a full drawing, I break it down into smaller steps. Maybe I’ll work on the outlines for 10 minutes in the morning, then add color and details in the evening. This way, I’m still making progress, and it takes the pressure off from trying to finish everything at once.
Celebrating the Small Wins 🎉I’ve learned to appreciate even the tiniest victories—whether it’s finishing a small part of a sketch or just making the effort to create something that day. Sharing my progress with you, no matter how I feel about the result, helps me stay motivated and makes the process more enjoyable.
What about you? How are you staying consistent during Inktober? I’d love to hear what’s working for you! 💪✨
