Focus Frame Display (Patreon)
Content
The latest Sony Alpha cameras allow you to see where the camera focused when reviewing an image. To activate this feature go to Menu > Playback > Playback Option > Focus Frame Display > On. You can also display the Focus Frame in Sony's Imaging Edge 'Viewer' Desktop software. Go to Viewer > View > Focus Frame Display.
Focus Frame Display is a useful feature but, as outlined in the Playback section of my camera eBooks, it is often inaccurate when panning the camera quickly, i.e., the indicated focus point is often not the actual point of focus that was used to capture the image.
"Note > When panning the camera rapidly I have noticed the Focus Frame Display is not always accurate to the actual point used to focus the lens."
Images 2 to 6 above, show instances where the accuracy is unreliable. When perfecting your fast-action image-capture camera techniques, and fine-tuning your selection of the focus settings of the camera, you cannot rely on this feature. I am busy expanding the Action Settings, Subject Recognition Settings and Playback Settings of the camera eBooks to help Patrons get the best out of their Sony Alpha cameras. Four eBooks have been updated this month ...with more updates to follow.
